Parking Fundraiser

Description: International Avenue Arts & Culture Community (IAACC), annuals hosts a parking fundraiser which is held in conjunction with Globalfest - the fireworks festival. IAACC has minimum 3 lots that where we offer paid parking to people attending Globalfest. Each night of the festival, we require 30-50 volunteers to help with various positions: 1. Directing - volunteers will be directing vehicles on where to park (sometimes helping with with general directions). As well, stationed at blocked roads to ensure no one sneaks through. 2. Parking Passes- volunteers will sell parking passes to vehicles and direct them where to park. This volunteer opportunity is suitable for ages 16+ The festival is 5 nights total August 18, 20, 23, 25, 27 however if the event is postponed it'll occur the next night and we ask volunteers to be available for the next day. Humanities 101 Learning Guide

Organization: Humanities 101 St. Mary's University

Description: Humanities 101 is a strength-based educational program designed to help low-income Calgarians address barriers getting in the way of exercising their capacities and skills. Teachers and volunteers are co-learners in the classroom and are passionate about learning and create a welcoming space where adults with a diverse range of life and educational experiences challenge themselves and find a passion and excitement for learning. The Humanities 101 Learning Guides join our class twice each week throughout the semester. We begin with lunch each day at noon, followed by a small group study time lead by the Learning Guides from 12:30 to 1:30. The activities for this time are outlined by our instructor, and can include a wide variety of topics including: discussing a reading, helping students identify key concepts, grammar, writing in academic style, reviewing student work, modeling and teaching appropriate classroom etiquette, talking about learning strategies such as note-taking and time management, mentoring students, etc. After this, the class has a lecture or class discussion from 1:30 to 3:30. Volunteers are welcome, but not required, to stay for this time. Calgary Stampeders - game day flyer handout at entrances + watch the games for free!

Description: We need consistent help with handing out the game day flyers at Stampeders home games. You will need to arrive 90 minutes prior to kick off to get your gate assigned and begin handing out the flyers. Once they are all gone or the game has started, you can find empty seats and stay to watch the game at no charge! If the ticketed holders arrive, you just need to change seats. This opportunity is in support of Variety - the Children's Charity of Alberta. Join ClimateScience as a Community Coordinator! [Remote]

We believe education is the most powerful tool in the fight against climate change. POSITION Help fight against climate change by joining our team at ClimateScience! As a Community Coordinator, you would help recruit people to be a part of our team, actively participate in meetings and events, form partnerships with schools and organizations, and learn more about climate change through our website. You have the chance to gain new experiences and connections, opportunities to earn leadership positions, build your resume, and acquire skills, all while being part of a fun community! Community Coordinators must be interested in learning more about climate change and passionate about bringing climate education into their own communities, and a flexible schedule would be a bonus.
