Memory Care Volunteer

Description: Memory care programs are essential for the engagement and wellbeing of individuals with dementia, and play a key role in providing respite opportunities for family caregivers of individuals with dementia. JFSC proudly offers in-home memory care programming with the help of our wonderful Memory Care Volunteers. Do you have a knack for art, puzzles, music, or physical games? Or do you simply love spending quality time with others? Memory Care Volunteers provide in-home one-on-one companionship and leisure activity support designed to engage individuals living with memory loss or a diagnosis of a dementia, such as Alzheimer’s Disease, while also providing the opportunity for caregiver respite. We require volunteers in all areas of the city for various shifts, however, our largest need is in the SW quadrant: Area of the City: SW Days of the week: Wednesdays and Thursdays Time of day: Afternoons (i.e. 1:00-4:00pm) Commitment: Up to 3-hours every other week Please join us in delivering this essential support to individuals with dementia and their caregivers! Friendly Visitor - In Person

Description: Many seniors in our community experience isolation and loneliness. Friendly Visiting is a meaningful way to give back to the community and make a difference in the life of a senior. Our Friendly Visitor Volunteers explore common interests, share experiences, and build connections with their senior pair. You may also learn something new yourself! • Visit with seniors in their home, community or care facilities every week for 1-2 hours. • Look for opportunities to decrease social isolation through promoting social interaction and activities. They must have excellent writing and communication skills, an innovative mind and great attention to detail. Main Responsibilities Generate, research and pitch ideas for posts. Keep an ongoing schedule of blog ideas Write, edit and publish content. Maximize site traffic by utilizing Search Engine Optimization keywords. Make a comprehensive list of blogs, news outlets, magazines and organizations that blog ideas can be pitched to and/or collaborated with. Monitor responses to post via the website, social media and other platforms to understand the target audience. Stay current on trends to write engaging and innovative content.
