Description: BOARD OF DIRECTORS – OPPORTUNITY ABOUT PEER MEDIATION AND SKILLS TRAINING Peer Mediation And Skills Training (PMAST) provides services and programs for youth, families, communities and organizations to develop and practice conflict management, relationship management, emotional health and wellness, resiliency and leadership skills. PMAST believes that proactively providing youth and families with the skills to handle conflict can significantly reduce bullying, violence, stress and issues affecting a person’s wellbeing. With programs targeted to schools, communities and organizations, PMAST contributes to reducing bullying and violence, while providing youth, families and individuals with skills they can rely on throughout their lives. The youth, families and communities we serve represent a diverse population, including Indigenous youth, new Canadians, youth at risk, LGBTQ2S+, and those from various socio-economic backgrounds. OUR MISSION: PMAST’s mission is to equip youth, families, and communities with the skills to manage conflict where they live, learn, work and play. OUR PEOPLE PMAST believes that diversity in our Board members and volunteers enriches collaboration, and we are committed to providing inclusive opportunities to all individuals. ABOUT THE ROLE PMAST is currently looking to add to the volunteer Board at its upcoming Annual General Meeting, October 20, 2022. We are looking for a two-year commitment. Your success is based on: Strategic input into the effective operation of the organization Being an advocate for the organization by promoting our mission Providing support by attending special events and participating in fundraising initiatives Contributing expertise to business strategy and providing sound, objective judgement which informs decision making Attending monthly Board meetings regularly Serving on a committee Actively supporting the organization’s administrative and governance responsibilities. PMAST does not have a physical office and operates on a virtual basis. In addition, the PMAST Board is very much a working board handling both the administrative tasks of the organization and governance. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE We are seeking three to four energetic individuals to serve on our Board of Directors with expertise within one or more of the following areas: Business Strategy; IT and Website Design; Finance; Social Media; Fund Raising; Human Resources. The event runs from 9am to 2pm. We need volunteers from 8am until about 3pm. If you can only stay for part of the event but still want to help, please let me know and we can make it work. Some of the roles that need to be filled are setting up, faciliting/supporting during activities, and cleaning up. We hope our way of covering solutions makes people excited to contribute to clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and other global-scale sustainability issues – beyond reusing their plastic bags. We believe education is the most powerful tool in the fight against climate change. POSITION Help fight against climate change by joining our team at ClimateScience! As a Community Coordinator, you would help recruit people to be a part of our team, actively participate in meetings and events, form partnerships with schools and organizations, and learn more about climate change through our website. You have the chance to gain new experiences and connections, opportunities to earn leadership positions, build your resume, and acquire skills, all while being part of a fun community! Community Coordinators must be interested in learning more about climate change and passionate about bringing climate education into their own communities, and a flexible schedule would be a bonus. Description: Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) is a community-based, restorative justice project that helps reduce re-offence rates by supporting and assisting persons with histories of sexual offending in integrating with the community and leading safe, responsible, and accountable lives. Circles are a support group of 3-5 screened and trained community volunteers formed around a person with a history of sexual offending (the "core member"). CoSA volunteers believe the best way to ensure public safety is to help core members find their place in the community and be surrounded by a committed group of people who will support them and hold them accountable for their actions. Our volunteers make it possible for us to do what we do, and we're always on the lookout for dedicated and passionate individuals to help us out! See a show for free! Usher or volunteer front of house for any of our shows. Things to know: Show times are 12pm Tuesday to Sunday with an additional show at 6:30pm Friday and 4pm Saturdays. Our shows tend to run 50-60 minutes in length not including the preshow speech. Preferred Dress code is black pants, white top, button up, but neat and tidy is what we are after in case you don't have the others. Volunteer shifts start 60 minutes before the show start and end about 15 minutes after the show is over.
