Description: Women’s Learning is a core program of the Women’s Centre and is primarily provided by volunteer facilitators and hosts both online via Zoom and in-person. Workshop Host Volunteers support the Centre’s learning programs by providing assistance to facilitators with workshop set-up and administration and help create a welcoming workshop space for attendees. Duties: Support Learning Coordinator and/or volunteer facilitator with the workshop set-up, including tables, workshop supplies and refreshments. Greet women as they arrive for workshops. Administrative support including taking attendance, completing waivers and evaluation surveys and other relevant tasks. Provide a supportive, inclusive and non-judgmental environment. Refer participants to Peer Support volunteers for other support and referrals. Promote Women’s Centre workshops, events and other services. Needed skills: Ability to work with a diverse range of women in a non-judgmental manner. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. An interest in women’s issues and in helping women. Good listening and communication skills. A willingness to work within the framework of the Women’s Centre. Follow through with the volunteer commitment as pre-determined. A commitment to attend the Introduction to the Women’s Centre and other 5 accompanying training sessions within the first 6-months of volunteering. DESCRIPTION: The Volunteer Relations Coordinator is a new volunteer position offered by the Northern Hills Community Association (NHCA). Description: Before the Event: Volunteers will receive their Energy Pit Stop Station information about two weeks before the event. Energy Pit Stops are strategically located around the downtown core to be visible to as many cyclists as possible. Each Energy Pit Stop team will have one team leader who will be responsible for collecting a box of supplies the day before the event. The team leader will contact the team members to confirm the location and what needs to be done on the event day. You will also receive information regarding free parking while volunteering. Event Day: Volunteers should show up at 5:30 a.m. at their designated Energy Pit Stop Station location. You will be there to enthusiastically (!) encourage riders as they pass by. You will have some give-away items to give to cyclists. We will provide you with bright coloured volunteer vests for safety and visibility. We will also have a bluetooth speaker which you can pair with your phone to play some music (try not to be too loud before 7 a.m). The event goes until 9 a.m. with take down going until 10:00 a.m. The team leader will be responsible to return the supplies box and you will be free to leave your Station.
