You’ll work closely with a team of developers, distributing the workload to ensure efficient progress and effective solutions. As we expand our organization and incorporate, we are focused on building a strong and effective leadership team to drive our mission forward. Through targeted initiatives and collaborative efforts, we aim to create a safer online environment for everyone. Role DescriptionWe are currently seeking volunteer Board Members to join our team and play an essential role in guiding DEFEND’s strategic direction and maintaining our mission. Board Members will meet once per month via Zoom (approximately one hour per session) and will work closely with our Committee and executive staff/volunteer Volunteers (who are running the corporation on a day-to-day basis) to oversee organizational policies, financial decisions, and overall mission alignment. This volunteer role involves leading petitions, protests, and community initiatives to advocate for safer digital environments for kids. You will be at the forefront of our movement, connecting with local stakeholders, building awareness, and organizing action. As the movement grows, top-performing volunteers may have the opportunity to transition into paid roles!We have done a Change.org petition, which has gained over 10,000 signatures, to make age and ID verification mandatory on all social media platforms, aiming to prevent adults from engaging in inappropriate conversations with minors online. Our next steps include organizing protests, rallies, and a hardcopy petition campaign across the United States and Canada, with plans to expand globally to drive this mission forward. Are you interested in community mental health and suicide prevention? We are currently seeking qualified candidates to join our Board of Directors to provide strategic leadership and direction, oversight and governance to the organization. Canadian Mental Health Association, Alberta Division, and Centre for Suicide Prevention (CMHA AB + CSP), is a provincial organization that leads community mental health and suicide prevention in Alberta, and suicide prevention in Canada. Our Board’s Nominating Committee is currently accepting applications for Board Director positions, to be elected at the Annual General Meeting, in June 2026. Prospective Directors will have a passion for, and commitment to, community mental health and suicide prevention.  What’s expected of CMHA AB + CSP Board Directors?Time commitmentCMHA AB + CSP’s Board Directors attend and actively participate in Board meetings and Committee meetings; all Board Directors sit on at least one Committee. The Board and Committees meet at least quarterly. Some attendance at CMHA AB + CSP-hosted events or representing CMHA AB + CSP at community events is also expected. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database solutions that support our mission\u002Ddriven initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of NoSQL technologies and the ability to translate complex data requirements into scalable database architectures.
