The Hearthstone Project is looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to help us run The Open Door Project, a free, all-ages community art workshop in Calgary on Saturday, September 26, 2026.The Open Door Project is a youth-led community art initiative exploring identity, culture, belonging, and community through creativity and storytelling. Participants will create pages for a collaborative community zine and take part in a variety of creative activities.NOTE: Volunteer roles will be assigned based on the needs of the event and the number of volunteers attending. Canada Connects is a volunteer program aimed at helping refugees arriving to Calgary integrate into the community by matching them with well-established local volunteers. The program supports government-assisted refugees in adjusting to life in Calgary by fostering connections with the client for a period of 4-12 months. Volunteer activities:Explore the community together, introducing newcomers to local resources, organizations, and share experiences about living in CalgaryEngage in cultural exchange, discussing various aspects of life in Canada and the newcomer's home countryProvide information on Canadian customs, culture, and societySpend leisure time with newcomers, engaging in activities and participate in and encourage attendance at fun, free events throughout the city or those organized by CCIS and partnersProvide moral support and encouragementFacilitate informal English language practiceRequirements:Meet with matched newcomer(s) for at least 4-8 hours per month for at least 4-12 monthsEach match is supervised by an assigned Canada Connects Program Facilitator who will support both the volunteer and the newcomer, helping to establish a successful relationship and provide guidance along the wayThe program requires a minimum commitment of 4 hours per month for 4 months to 1 yearThe initial meeting takes place at the client's home under the supervisions of the Program Facilitator. For almost 40 years, Quest Theatre has nurtured young people through exceptional adventures in theatre, creating intelligent and whimsical work that encourages young people to explore who they are, discover what is important, and build the kind of world they want to live in. We do theatre WITH young people and FOR young people with the knowledge that exposure to the arts is vital for their personal growth, character development, and sense of belonging in society. Role Description We are seeking a professional and enthusiastic individual with a background and experience in human resources to join our Governance Committee. Prior Board or Committee experience is considered an asset.Major responsibilities include: Governance Committee – Human ResourcesLeadership and guidance support with all HR related policies, procedures and documents.
