Position Summary and Purpose: Under the direction of the Exhibit Lead Hands and following the lead of the Staff Site Interpreter, the Volunteer Exhibit Host will assist with the interpretation of one or more of Heritage Park’s exhibits. Exhibit Hosts will be part of the Public Interpretation team responsible for interpreting the early history of Western Canadian settlement and sharing general knowledge of Heritage Park. Description: CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - ADFA Casino Fundraiser March 23 & 24, 2024 The Alberta Drama Festival Association (ADFA) is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization whose mandate is to encourage, develop and maintain community theatre in Alberta. The main vehicle for pursuing this mandate is the adult, non-professional one-act play festivals held throughout Alberta, with annual regional and provincial festivals. The ADFA is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out with its 2024 casino fundraiser, happening March 23rd and 24th. The casino will be held at the ACE Casino Airport in Calgary (40 Aero Cres NE). Onsite training, food, and travel will be covered by the ADFA. Volunteer Roles General Manager: Responsible for the overall continuity of the casino. Some data entry experience is required Banker: In control of the cash and chip inventories. This position is mostly data entry. Cashier: Redeems player’s chips for cash. Little data entry required. Chip Runner: Delivers chips from the banker to the game tables as required; will count chips with the gaming floor staff as required. A fair amount of data entry is required. Count Room: Will sort and use money counting machines to count money. Some data entry required. Description: Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence. Volunteering at Shelter Movers means contributing to a mission that will make a meaningful impact on families experiencing abuse and supporting survivors as they transition to a life free of violence. It also means playing a role in ending gender-based violence. We are growing and looking to add caring, compassionate, and dependable people to our team. The Role The Move Coordinator is an integral part of the Operations team, planning and coordinating all details of a move as well as providing on-call support on the day of a move. This role is completely remote. The Move Coordinator corresponds with the client (typically over the phone), ensures volunteer teams are prepared, and that the move goes smoothly, including responding to and problem-solving unforeseen challenges on the day of the move. Move Coordination Supervisor(s) and the Operations Manager will provide ongoing support to Move Coordinators throughout the coordination process. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Reach out to the client over the phone within 24 hours of being assigned the move to confirm all details, explain next steps and address any questions/concerns from the client Communicate with the Move Coordination Supervisor(s) to recruit an appropriate team of volunteers Coordinate move logistics, including (but not limited to) vehicle reservations, storage arrangements, and scheduling of private security or police Complete a customized itinerary for the move (using a provided template) Be “on call” (reachable by phone) throughout the duration of the move to support the Lead Mover with any unexpected challenges. Project management, event planning, and/or customer service experience is an asset Role Details Approximately 3-4 hours of planning (over the course of a few days) and 4-5 hours of ‘on-call’ availability per move. The expectation is to coordinate a minimum of 1 move per month. The first few moves may take longer to coordinate as you are getting accustomed to the process. *Please note: the work of a Move Coordinator isn’t performed in a single or continuous ‘shift’; rather, it involves communication with the client over the phone and planning at your convenience. Typically this planning stage spans approximately 5 to 10 days prior to the move. Then, on the day of the move we ask you to be ‘on-call’, or available and reachable by phone should any issues arise during the move. This is a fully remote position, with occasional meetings (conference calls.) A 4-6 month commitment is strongly preferred. You’ll have the opportunity to make a positive impact helping women and children transition away from violence/abuse. You’ll gain experience in the operations of a social service agency, including service coordination and direct client interaction. You’ll receive training in preparation for your role, and have access to ongoing training opportunities. You’ll work with a great team of passionate volunteers and supporters. Description: The Food Fosters Showcase and Awards is a dinner event on Thursday March 7, celebrating the winners of the 2024 Food Fosters Youth Engagement Challenge. Prizes will be awarded to the challenge participants who engaged the most in completing food-based activities. We are looking for volunteers to help with multiple parts of the event including: Community centre/ event venue setup and decoration (4:00 pm-5:30 pm) Registration table/ guest check in (5:30-6:00 pm) Event takedown (7:45-9:00 pm) We may also require some volunteer assistance on Wednesday March 6, for preparation of supplies for the event evening. Volunteers will get to enjoy the event (including dinner and desserts) during times they aren't assigned to tasks, and will receive a volunteer recognition letter if requested. This is a fully remote position, with occasional meetings (conference calls.) A 4-6 month commitment is strongly preferred. You’ll have the opportunity to make a positive impact helping women and children transition away from violence/abuse. You’ll gain experience in the operations of a social service agency, including service coordination and direct client interaction. You’ll receive training in preparation for your role, and have access to ongoing training opportunities. You’ll work with a great team of passionate volunteers and supporters. After 3 months of satisfactory service, a confirmation of volunteering can be provided; After 6 months, we'd be happy to provide a personalized reference letter. Food Fosters Showcase & Awards Event

Description: The Food Fosters Showcase and Awards is a dinner event on Thursday March 7, celebrating the winners of the 2024 Food Fosters Youth Engagement Challenge. Prizes will be awarded to the challenge participants who engaged the most in completing food-based activities. We are looking for volunteers to help with multiple parts of the event including: Community centre/ event venue setup and decoration (4:00 pm-5:30 pm) Registration table/ guest check in (5:30-6:00 pm) Event takedown (7:45-9:00 pm) We may also require some volunteer assistance on Wednesday March 6, for preparation of supplies for the event evening. Volunteers will get to enjoy the event (including dinner and desserts) during times they aren't assigned to tasks, and will receive a volunteer recognition letter if requested.
