Ups and Downs Teen and Young Adult Conference

Nonprofit Executive Director Position

Description: CORNERSTONE OF HOPE is a Calgary based, not-for-profit organization helping families live through loss and thrive in the face of adversity. Our peer support programs for children and adults assist participants to deal with the emotions around divorce, separation, death, or other loss to help restore emotional wholeness. Operating since 1996, we are seeking an Executive Director to help us expand our reach and programs. Overall responsibilities will be to (a) Work with the Cornerstone of Hope board to fulfill the organization mission, (b) Develop resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization, (c) Work with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach and (d) Oversee and implement appropriate resources to ensure the operations of the organization are appropriate. Here are some more detailed responsibilities of the Executive Director: 1. Plan, implement, and operate annual budget. 2. Establish employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit. 3. Serve as Cornerstone of Hope’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media, and the general public. 4. Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations where needed and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Cornerstone of Hope’s Mission. 5. Collaborate and work closely with the Board Chairperson. 6. Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the Foundation throughout the City, Province, and Country. 7. Description: Did you know that some dementias occur as early as 40s and 50s? … Like anyone else, younger people with dementia enjoy engaging with others … YOU can help them have a good day, each day!     What is YouQuest? YouQuest is a community for people with young-onset dementia (diagnosed before age 65) and their families.  Our purpose is to promote health and well-being by ensuring access to recreation therapy, counselling, and peer support. YouQuest offers a place to belong. It is a reliable support network for caregivers, providing them with a break from caring responsibilities.   A registered charity, YouQuest organizes activities for people in this younger population group. Our recreation therapy staff and volunteers provide functional support to help participants achieve well-being, learn new skills, and maintain their independence.   Who are the YouQuest Participants? YouQuest is designed to appeal to younger people with dementia who want to be active and social in a community. Inclusion criteria includes: Diagnosis of dementia and/or symptoms before age 65 Safe in an unsecured environment Self-ambulatory and medically stable Independent with meals and medication Willing and able to participate safely in individual and group recreation activities   What's a Typical Day at YouQuest? Make-A-Wish/Southcentre Halloween Campaign

Description: If you are looking for a spooktacular volunteer opportunity - this one is for you!  You will be assisting mall customers with taking pictures at different Halloween displays, handing out swag, selling wish stars to be placed on the wishing tree, to name just a few of the tasks at this year's Make-A-Wish/Southcentre Halloween Campaign.  You are invited to dress up like a wizard or wish fairy (optional) and celebrate the Halloween season while helping raise funds to grant the wishes of critically ill children.
