Ask Her strives to advance principles of inclusive and equitable representation in municipal government through training and development of candidates, and building a community of support. We are filled with energetic, capable people! But we’re missing some important people to help us advance our vision and continue our momentum for the City of Calgary 2025 election. Ask Her and its Board of Directors continue to grow and evolve and we are seeking several new Board members to join us in the realization of our exciting future.  To complement the existing Board of Directors, we are looking for a candidate who can fulfill the Treasurer role. Most importantly, we are looking for people who are passionate about electing self-identified women in all of their diversity to public office, who are creative visionaries that think outside the box, and who recognize that ‘her success is our success.’ We’re looking for a diverse range of skills, political affiliations and experiences, so if you’re at all interested we want to see YOUR application. Ask Her is looking for a committed person with a passion for numbers and financial acumen, with experience in accounting and financial management for non-profit and/or charitable organizations. You’ll become our financial expert, instrumental to the Board, serving as our Treasurer and working closely with the President, Directors and Governance Committee to ensure that appropriate financial decisions and reporting are completed for the financial wellness of the organization. The Treasurer also has the opportunity to take on operational initiatives as needed. Responsibilities Be an Ask Her Ambassador in the community Ability to be a committed participant on the Board, in committees, and in fundraising activities Develop or improve the current accounting and financial plan, process and reporting Advise the Board on best practices and act as a signing officer for the organization; you are the financial expert on the Board! Lead the Finance Committee and recruit volunteers to join the Committee as needed Report to the Board on budgets, forecasting, financials and to the members/AGM on relevant financial reporting on a timely basis Advisor on matters including, but not limited to, income tax, charitable tax status, reporting compliance, compliance to legislation and policies etc. Embrace Ask Her’s vision and mission! Experiences Accounting/Finance experience (at work, volunteering, non-profit, private) Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to forge meaningful relationships Committed to meeting deadlines and a ‘do what you say’ mindset Desire to be part of an organization making an impact in the city and province A general understanding of the environment in which Ask Her operates CPA or equivalent is desired, formal Board experience not required Time Commitment This is a working board, which means Directors are expected to lead and  support each other and roll up their sleeves to implement. This role requires a minimum of 8 hours per month over the course of the two year term. As part of your commitment as a Board member, you will also attend our board meetings, sit on at least 1 Board committee and participate in special Board initiatives. You will provide operational support to the board and organization when appropriate, and stay connected to the Ask Her community to represent their voices at the Board table.
