Join the Weaselhead/Glenmore Park Preservation Society – a dynamic and committed group of people that promote environmental stewardship and provide outdoor education to over 4000 school children every year! We are looking for a Communications member for our Board to contribute ideas, communications expertise at our monthly Board meetings and Communications subcommittee. The main functions of this role are to facilitate communication between the Society and its members, partners, clients, and the general public. The desired outcomes are that these audiences are aware of and informed about Society generally and about specific activities, events, and opportunities offered; equally that the Society is aware and informed of their needs, opinions, questions, and interests. The duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following: • Keep up to date with new trends and advise Board on necessary/recommended changes. • Develop communication strategy collaboratively with the Communications Officer, and in concert with the overall WGPPS strategy. • Support the use of website and Social Media to build Society reputation and awareness of its activities; encourage feedback from members and public on these activities. • Assist and contribute to consistent messaging campaigns to convey our mission and values to our audiences in the park and online • Supports the Communications Officer in planning and helping execute events throughout the year in the park, online as well as indoors at various venues; and in preparation of communications work products. • Attend Board meetings and other meetings related to Society activities recommending ideas and projects in keeping with the mission of the organization and approved by the Board. • Attend Communications Committee meetings, providing note taking and ensuring tasks are acted upon. • Assist in carrying out other duties related to the activities of the Society as required. Commitment is 4-6 hours/month
