Opportunity Description:

Are you committed to creating communities that are free from sexual violence? Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) is looking for individuals who are interested in joining our Board of Directors to support our compassionate team. Our Board is an active and involved group who care deeply about the organization and our fiduciary duties to support and govern the organization. CCASA is a dynamic and innovative not for profit charitable organization that seeks to serve and support all community members in Calgary and surrounding areas by providing counselling and community services that address sexual harassment, sexual abuse and sexual assault. Our mission is to lead in the provision of specialized sexual violence services and educate communities in order to shift attitudes and responses to sexual violence. For over 25 years, CCASA has built a strong foundation and network of services to support communities in addressing sexual violence and the resulting myriad of complex issues for individuals, families, and communities. CCASA is grounded in anti-oppressive practices and is committed to being equitable and inclusive while creating a safe space for all. We aim to be a representation of the communities we serve thus we welcome people of all diverse backgrounds to apply for this position. We are wanting to create space for the voices and experiences of Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQ2+ and those impacted by disabilities community members to help shape and build CCASA into a hub of support for those who are underrepresented and underserved. We also welcome voices from both female and male identified individuals who would like to work toward ending sexual violence. CCASA is also seeking individuals committed to and involved in their communities (however one defines what that community is). In alignment with our core values, CCASA is looking for individuals that are collaborative, community centred, empathetic, innovative, and forward thinking. Currently we are welcoming the addition of a number of new board members who are committed to learning about and dealing with sexual violence in our community. Although board and not for profit experience would be an asset, these are also areas that people can learn. CCASA Board of Director roles are volunteer positions and require committee work and monthly meetings. The average monthly commitment is between two to four hours. If you would like to be considered for a CCASA Board position, please email to request an application to CCASAboard@calgarycasa.com or visit the website at calgarycasa.com, the application is available to be filled out and submitted online. If you would like more information about CCASA or the board, please call the CEO of CCASA, Danielle Aubry, at 403-237-6905 ext. 228. Applications will be reviewed and potential applicants will be contacted for an initial interview. Successful applicants will require a police security check.
