Role Description As a Concept Artist / Graphic Artist, you will work closely with project managers and developers to create visual concepts that align with the platform’s mission. You will play a key role in setting the visual direction for the platform, ensuring that it is safe, engaging, and visually appealing. This is a remote, part-time volunteer role ideal for someone with a passion for both art and online safety. Key Responsibilities Work with project managers to understand project requirements and create concept art for developers to follow. Conduct research to understand the project’s needs and develop creative ideas that support the mission of online safety. Regularly meet with other DEFEND or 65square team members (on a schedule that suits your team) to brainstorm, share ideas, and develop cohesive content. Ensure that all visual concepts align with DEFEND’s mission of protecting children and creating a safe social media environment. Qualifications Background in graphic design, concept art, or a related field, with a portfolio of relevant work. Ability to generate unique and visually appealing ideas that contribute to the platform’s game-like design. Familiarity with design elements and principles that will guide developers in creating an engaging and safe platform. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and other team members. Interest in contributing to a project that prioritizes the protection of children and vulnerable users. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively within a 2-4 hour weekly commitment. Job Description As an Augmented Reality Tester, you will assist in testing AR features for 65square, ensuring they are functional, user-friendly, and aligned with the platform’s vision. This role is ideal for tech enthusiasts who want to contribute to an innovative project and gain hands-on experience with AR technologies. Successful testers may be offered opportunities to transition into paid roles as the project develops. Responsibilities Evaluate the functionality and usability of AR components within the 65square platform. Report bugs, inconsistencies, and suggestions for improvement to the development team. Work closely with Unity developers and project managers to ensure AR features meet user expectations. Complete training to understand testing tools and methods for AR functionalities. Keep detailed records of testing outcomes to support the team in refining the technology. Requirements Training will be provided, though programming knowledge is an asset. Must own an iPhone XR or later (compatible with AR) and a Mac computer (2018 or later). Must be 18 years or older. Available to volunteer 3-4 hours per week. Description: We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make the 15th Annual Acera Insurance Run for L'Arche a success! This special event, taking place in Calgary, brings our community together in support of a meaningful cause. Join us on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Confluence Plaza on St. Patrick's Island (1300 12 St NE, Calgary, AB T2E 7V6). L’Arche Calgary is a community where people with and without intellectual disabilities live and grow together, fostering belonging, growth, and mutual care. For over 50 years, we have provided supportive housing, day programs, and personalized care to individuals with disabilities. Through our five homes, the Tamarack Day Program, and the Supported Independent Living Program, we create spaces where everyone’s unique gifts are celebrated and valued. The Acera Insurance Run for L'Arche is our annual fundraising event, directly supporting our mission of creating community and inclusion for adults with intellectual disabilities. Volunteers are essential to this event's success, and we have several roles available: Course Marshals will direct runners along the course, cheer them on, and ensure safety. Water Station volunteers will hand out water and provide encouragement along the route. Registration Desk volunteers will assist with race kit pick-up, shirt sales, and participant check-ins. Greeters and Medal Distributors will welcome participants, cheer them on at the finish line, and hand out medals to celebrate their achievements. Volunteers for the 1K Fun Run Activity Stations will engage with kids and participants with disabilities, helping run fun, family-friendly games and activities. Volunteering roles start at different times, with some beginning as early as 6:30 AM. We will do our best to assign volunteers to their preferred roles, but reassignments may occur to meet event needs.
