Description de l'opportunité

MIRAAS is growing, and we’re looking for passionate people who want to help bring more South Asian arts, culture, and creative experiences to Calgary. Whether you’re interested in film, music, art, events, social media, marketing, community outreach, partnerships, or helping behind the scenes, there’s room for you here!

We are looking to create an amazing team of volunteers we can reach out to year round for help as needed for events. We understand that everyone has different schedules, commitments, and interests. Volunteering is flexible and based on your availability, so you can get involved when it works for you!

You don’t need a specific background or previous experience — just enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire to be part of something meaningful. We welcome people from all backgrounds who want to celebrate culture, support creatives, and build community.

How you can get involved:

  • Event Support: Set-up, tear-down, guest check-in, ticketing, ushering, and event coordination.
  • Film Screenings & Festivals: Ticket scanning, audience services, filmmaker hospitality, Q&A support, green room assistance, and screening logistics.
  • Marketing & Social Media: Content creation, photography, videography, social media support, and event promotion.
  • Community Outreach: Connecting with local communities, distributing promotional materials, and helping spread the word about MIRAAS events.
  • Partnerships & Fundraising: Supporting sponsor outreach, community partnerships, donation drives, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Creative & Programming Support: Researching films and artists, brainstorming event ideas, supporting workshops, and helping bring creative projects to life.
  • Guest & Artist Experience: Welcoming guests, assisting artists and filmmakers, and helping create a warm, inclusive event environment.
  • General Operations: Administrative support, volunteer coordination, research, and behind-the-scenes tasks.

MIRAAS Culture Society

MIRAAS Culture Society

Arts, culture et patrimoine

MIRAAS is a Calgary-based South Asian arts and culture initiative creating space for the stories, creativity, and evolving identities of South Asian communities and the diaspora. Through independent film screenings, music, visual art, cultural experiences, and community events, MIRAAS connects emerging creatives with audiences and creates opportunities to experience South Asian culture beyond traditional boundaries.

Rooted in Calgary and open to everyone, MIRAAS celebrates the cultures we inherit, the cultures we create, and the ways we reimagine them. Our goal is to make arts and culture more accessible, amplify underrepresented voices, support independent artists and filmmakers, and build meaningful connections across communities through shared creative experiences.
