Opportunity Description:

About Us DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to protecting children and other vulnerable people online. Our mission is to reduce online risks through education and technology to create safer digital spaces. Role Description We are seeking passionate and driven individuals to join DEFEND’s Management Team. As a Committee Member, you will help guide and oversee the organization’s goals, ensuring that our mission remains at the core of all decisions. You will meet weekly via Zoom to discuss long-term objectives, project plans, and strategies to advance our mission. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to significant social change and be a part of a dynamic and impactful nonprofit team. Responsibilities Attend and contribute to three weekly Zoom meetings, with a break on the fourth week. Collaborate with team members to discuss progress, refine project plans, and set actionable steps for long-term goals. Support efforts to mandate age/ID verification on social media, ensuring children and vulnerable persons are safer online. Contribute to the evaluation and creation of organizational policies. Work within teams to achieve project milestones of varying scales. Attend and vote on group interviews for candidates applying to join DEFEND teams or committees. Qualifications Commitment to DEFEND’s mission to protect children and vulnerable persons online. Strong communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Previous experience in nonprofit management, policy development, or project management is an asset but not required. Ability to dedicate a few hours per week to attend meetings and contribute to projects.
