FCHS BOARD MEMBER POSITION DESCRIPTION Foothills Country Hospice Society (FCHS) provides specialized, compassionate end-of-life care to adults and support to their loved ones living in the rural Foothills and South Calgary. The role of the Board of Directors is to further FCHS’s vision and mission by establishing organizational direction and monitor progress.  You will offer valuable input and strategic direction that will support the many essential services FCHS provides.  As a member of the FCHS Board of Directors, you will be responsible for: BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide strategic and generative leadership Ensure the organization’s financial viability and sustainability Develop policy framework as required and provide governance Employ and evaluate the performance of the Board and the Executive Director Participate in the development of resources Being knowledgeable about the organization’s values, mission, programs, and performance Contribute to formation of the annual committee structure required to execute the Board work plan Be an active member of one or more Board Committees during your term Be an ambassador for the organization and promote its work in the community Tap your network within Calgary and surrounding areas when required to find expertise, skilled contributors, and donors To carry out these responsibilities, the Board meets on a monthly basis. In addition to attendance at Board meetings, you will be required to participate on one of four working committees that also meet monthly or as needed.  Preparation for Board and committee meetings is essential and should be factored into the overall time commitment expected from Board members. FCHS is seeking individuals with the following qualifications to join the Board: Strong networks in Calgary and surrounding areas Competence key areas including Medical Experience, Experience in a Health Care Field, or Fund Development Experience in other key domains including Human Resources, Governance and Leadership, Finance, Legal, and Technical expertise Interest in learning about governance, volunteerism, community development, and capacity building Ability to work effectively with a team Passion for volunteerism Past voluntary committee or board experience (organization or community) an asset If you would like to join this amazing organization, please submit a Statement of Interest or Resume to Shaun Dyer, Executive Director, at sdyer@countryhospice.org by April 20, 2025.
