Ground Zero Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to producing contemporary theatre not seen in Calgary. Our mission is to develop and nurture home-grown talent in an environment where we bridge the gap between educational and professional theatre by combining established artists with up and coming artists.
Walking With Our Sisters Calgary is a grassroots group of Calgarians working together to bring the Art Installation and Ceremony to Calgary, happening April 29 to May 13, hosted in partnership at the Riddell Library and Learning Centre Mount Royal University.

OPERATION KICKSTART, a non profit society, reg'd in 1996, is seeking 5 volunteers. Applicants need to be retired, with at least 2 references, aged 50 + and a university degree. We assist the unemployed, teaching basic digital skills and providing those job seekers with access to computers, to search the internet for jobs. Our program assist with resume writng, cover letters, strategies for interviews. Each accepted applicant is assigned a case worker whose task it is to mentor that applicant. All volunteers shall attend a training course of several hours. Volunteers must be able to attend our offices on 3rd street sw, for at least 1 day a week. Office hours are from 9-noon and 1-4. Tasks of volunteers will be to answer phones, assist walk ins with filling out applications, setting appointments for classes. Calgary is in the midst of serious challenge as the economy is staggering and many need our help. FINDING A JOB IS A JOB-we cannot help everyone but our mission is to make sure serious job hunters have basic computers skills and direction of how to search online for jobs. Help us help these deserving people.
Currently Ability4Good is on the search for volunteers who are willing to teach children with special needs dance, martial arts, yoga, etc. for their THRIVE community aid program. The program runs on Wednesday evenings. If you are interested in teaching any of the above (or if you have another suggestion), please contact Tiara Fernando at tiara@ability4good.com
At The Calgary John Howard Society, it is our mission to promote positive change through humane, just, and informed responses to crime and its effects. We envision an informed community active in preventing crime. We are Restoring Lives, Preventing Crime, and Strengthening Communities.
We have opportunities for community members to volunteer and work with adults, youth or in a more general capacity. Volunteer opportunities are coordinated by program staff, who manage individual volunteer positions to encourage community involvement in the agency.

Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – Calgary Region is part of Canada’s most established national mental health organizations, the Canadian Mental Health Association. CMHA facilitates access to resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience and support recovery from mental illness and addiction.
CMHA – Calgary Region builds awareness and provides education, advocacy and support for individuals and families living with mental illness, addiction, or a loss by suicide. We provide community-based support programs, including supportive and independent living, homeless outreach, aboriginal outreach, suicide bereavement support and peer support programs for families and individuals. We work closely with other community organizations to bridge gaps in the mental health care system and facilitate access to important services and resources.
Nature Calgary holds meetings, organizes field trips and has in the past published a number of natural history books, including guides to natural areas of the city or greeting cards. We also advocate for the preservation of natural areas within the Calgary area. For example we were involved with the development of the Weed Lake area in partnership with Ducks Unlimited.
To share the Jamaican culture with the wider Calgary community, provide social interaction among members and to advocate and represent the Jamaican community in matters which affect their welfare and their integration into Canadian society.
