At Grow Calgary, our ultimate goal is to ensure that all residents of Calgary, especially those who are vulnerable and living in poverty, have consistent access to healthy, local food. Grow Calgary is a 100% volunteer-run community farm; We donate 100% of the fresh food we grow to compassionate social agencies in Calgary with food access programs. Thanks to our volunteers and the generous spirit of our community, we have donated to over 40 Compassionate Food Access Agencies in Calgary, with 95% of our recipients being women and children.
From planting seeds to building greenhouses, each day at Grow Calgary represents a new opportunity to learn. Mother nature is our true boss, so please come with a flexible mindset. Task-lists change from day to day depending on the time of season & weather conditions. Some tasks may include seeding & transplanting, mulching garden beds, watering plants, pest control, or harvesting produce.
BTWD brings together like-minded Calgarians to promote cycling as a viable means of transportation, reduce inner-city traffic congestion, and reduce pollution in the air. Cycling is a great addition to a healthy lifestyle and can be very cost effective – not to mention how much time is saved by not sitting in traffic. BTWD promotes a sense of community. With the effects of climate change weighing on our shoulders, biking to work is a simple way to reduce carbon emissions and our environmental impact.
In order to inspire more participants, Lonny Balbi pledges to donate $1 for every participant to charity.
The Alberta Seventh Step Society is a self-help organization working within the Criminal Justice System to prevent crime and to reduce recidivism. The self-help philosophy is applied to all pre and post release programs and services that are offered to persons in conflict with the law.
Weekly meetings are held in the community and federal institutions to provide a forum for free and open discussion of problems addressed to support individuals in becoming non-offending members of society.
Spanning the province of Alberta, we are dedicated to giving the gift of hope by granting wishes for children in Alberta diagnosed with a severe chronic or life-threatening medical condition.
Calgary Community Network Association is a Registered Charity and Non-Profit Organization begun in 1994. It is also known as "Calgary Free-Net".
We are dedicated to helping connect Community Members (including Organizations and businesses) to advanced networks like the Internet, preferably for Free when possible. We do this through providing Cheap and Free Internet Access for Members and Families in Need, Seniors, people with disabilities and community organizations and businesses.
Our "Barrier Free" Project, begun in 2001, provides a Computer and/or Internet access for a year, to those who can't afford it.
Its Community Access Program (CAP) seeks to provide Seniors and others Internet connection in the community through local portals in various community locations.
As a Registered Charity, all cash Donations are eligible for a Charitable Tax Receipt which can be used like money to pay for taxes on your Income Tax Return.
CCNA also welcomes Donations "in kind", like Laptops, and other hardware or software, to help with their Community work.
The Botanical Gardens of Silver Springs is a totally volunteer run organization that has created a botanical garden which stretches over 2 kilometers and includes 19 separate gardens focused on themes, plant types or activities. 60 Volunteers give over 9000 hours annually to maintain these gardens.
Vision: A community gathering space , destination park and botanical gardens featuring plants that grow in our particular climate.

Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA) is a non-profit organization established in 1982 as a registered charity. CIWA is a culturally diverse settlement agency that recognizes, responds to, and focuses on the unique concerns and needs of immigrant and refugee women, girls, and their families. CIWA’s uniqueness is based on its gender specific mandate. Over the years, we have continually responded to emerging needs of immigrant women and girls, developed innovative programs, established meaningful partnerships, and have come to be recognized as a provincial and national leader in outcome-based gender-specific settlement services.
CIWA offers programs and services that use a holistic approach to support clients in the areas of settlement and integration, literacy and language training, employment support and bridging programs, family violence, parenting, individual counselling, in-home support, civic engagement, health, housing, and community development. All clients have access to childcare and first language support during group sessions and individual appointments.
BeaYOUtiful is a non-profit organization that was initially established in January 2012. Reaching out to young girls between the ages of 8-14, this organization provides mentorship programs for those struggling with confidence, lacking self-esteem, or simply looking to build a more positive outlook.
BeaYOUtiful works directly with young girls throughout Canada, providing a safe and fun environment enrolled in the after school program. Classes range from learning to balance a healthy lifestyle, dealing with bullying and family issues, to key steps towards finding the inspiration to chase your dreams. Although each class exemplifies a different life lesson, the same moral is focused on in the end: never forget you are beautiful.
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada.
Variety – the Children’s Charity of Alberta supports children who are living with disabilities and specialized needs in our communities.
Through education, advocacy, direct support and community outreach, we support children who are facing physical, developmental, emotional or learning challenges and are dedicated to advancing the health, quality of life and enrichment of children living with specialized requirements and needs.
The initiatives that we engage in support building inclusive and healthy communities for children living with specialized needs to gain greater independence and positive life experiences.
Vision: Variety Alberta enables all children living with specialized needs to be an active part of their community.
Mission: Through community initiatives, partnerships and education, Variety Alberta enables inclusion, wellness and independence for children who are facing physical, developmental, emotional or learning challenges.
