Human Rights, Artificial Intelligence, and Academic Integrity (Sarah Elaine Eaton)

Category: Meetings, Conferences and Workshops
Dates: December 10, 2024 - December 10, 2024

oin us on December 10, in celebration of international Human Rights Day, for a dynamic and interactive 90-minute webinar.

Human Rights Day marks the anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, a foundational document that continues to shape global conversations on equality and dignity.

In this session, we will explore the critical intersection of human rights, artificial intelligence (AI), and academic integrity. As AI technology becomes increasingly embedded in education, governance, and society, it raises profound questions about fairness, bias, and the protection of fundamental human rights.

In this webinar, we’ll discuss:
The role of human rights in academic integrity policy, procedure, and practices
How artificial intelligence (AI) impacts human rights in education and beyond
The challenges and opportunities posed by AI in the context of human dignity and freedom

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussion, pose questions, and reflect on how we can ensure that technology serves as a force for good while upholding the values of academic integrity and human rights.

The Last Waltz Remembered (Amanda)

Category: Live Music
Dates: September 2, 2021 - September 3, 2021

In celebration of the 45th anniversary of one of the most important rock and roll concerts in music history, Annerin Productions has recreated The Last Waltz Remembered to re-capture the magic of The Band’s farewell concert, which was originally mounted in 2017 where the show instantly sold out in Calgary and Edmonton. This year's version will feature home-grown Alberta talent starring Jimmy Rankin, Barney and Dustin Bentall, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and Colin Linden (who played with The Band). They will be accompanied by the Russell Broom House Band, which will feature nine pieces including a horn section.

The Last Waltz Remembered all-star lineup will tackle the biggest songs from that fateful night in 1976 like “Helpless,” “The Weight,” “Caravan,” “Forever Young,” “Up on Cripple Creek,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” and “I Shall be Released” while paying homage to the artists that created them.

Casino Fundraiser (Copperfield & Mahogany Community Association)

Category: Fundraisers and Volunteer
Dates: April 13, 2018 - April 14, 2018

Upcoming Copperfield & Mahogany Community Association Casino - Volunteers Requested

Our Community Association casino will take place Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th, 2018 at Cowboys Casino (#421, 12 Avenue SE Calgary).  We are granted only one casino every 24 months and these funds help offset the maintenance costs for the building, putting on our favorite community events, enhance our programs to our members as well as the ability to purchase equipment to ensure our rinks are in fine form during the winter months.

This is a very important couple of days for the Community Association.  We typically raise between $60,000 and $80,000 during a casino event however without volunteer help we could not support this casino and therefore would not be able to raise this kind of money.

We are looking for approximately 40-45 volunteers over the course of the two days/nights.  If you love to volunteer or want a fun day/night out from the family or even date with the spouse, this is the event for you to volunteer at! Please see below a breakout of volunteer shifts that we are looking to fill.

As a thank you for volunteering, dinner, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks will be provided for all volunteers during their shift!

Day shifts are from (11:00am-7:30pm).  Volunteer options for these shifts are:
General Manager
Banker
Cashier x 2
Chiprunner x 2
Spare on call

Evening shifts are from (7:00pm-4:00am).  Volunteer options for these shifts are:
