Volunteer Job Listing: Researchers Wanted .Organization: DEFEND (Nonprofit) and 65square Position: We are looking for educated/experienced researchers to undertake unique projects and join our Research Team. The Team meets nearly weekly for up to one hour and brainstorms interesting concepts to undertake. Some of these meetings will be more a check-in for team members to follow up or support current projects.Location: Remote (Weekly Zoom Meetings) About Us: DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.Role Description: The Researcher will play a vital role in supporting our organization’s initiatives by conducting thorough research that informs our programs and strategies. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can analyze data, synthesize findings, and communicate insights effectively. The ideal candidate will be committed to our mission and eager to contribute to meaningful projects that make a difference.Key Responsibilities:Conduct Comprehensive Research: Perform qualitative and quantitative research related to reduce risks for children and vulnerable people online.Data Analysis: Analyze collected data using appropriate statistical methods and tools; interpret results to provide actionable insights.Report Writing: Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing research findings; ensure reports are accessible for various stakeholders.Collaboration: Work closely with program teams to identify research needs; collaborate on developing research questions that align with organizational goals.Literature Review: Stay updated on current trends and developments in the field; conduct literature reviews to support ongoing projects.Presentation of Findings: Present research findings in meetings or workshops; create visual aids such as charts or graphs to enhance understandingQualifications:MUST be 18 years and above.Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, public health, environmental studies).Previous experience in research or data analysis preferred.Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R) or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a creative team.A portfolio showcasing previous work that demonstrates storytelling ability through visuals.Why Join Us?
