Adults shouldn't have the ability to chat up children online!!  We are planning protests, rallies and a hardcopy petition across the US and Canada to further our mission. We need people in all areas of the US to help recruit activists and become ambassadors of our team. Location: Remote (Weekly Zoom Meetings)  About Us: DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.Role Description: The Child Advocate/Ambassador plays a crucial role in promoting the welfare and rights of children within our community. This position involves engaging with various stakeholders, including children, families, educators, and community leaders, to raise awareness about child advocacy issues and to support initiatives that enhance the well-being of children. The ideal candidate will be passionate about child welfare and possess strong communication skills to effectively represent the organization’s mission.Key Responsibilities:Advocacy and Outreach:Actively promote the organization’s mission and programs related to child welfare.Engage with local schools, community centers, and other organizations to raise awareness about children’s rights and available resources.Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and seminars focused on child advocacy.Support Services:Provide direct support to children and families in need by connecting them with appropriate resources.Assist in developing educational materials that inform families about their rights and available services.Facilitate support groups or workshops for parents and caregivers.Collaboration:Work closely with social workers, educators, law enforcement, and healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated approach to child advocacy.Participate in inter-agency meetings to discuss strategies for improving services for children.Training and Development:Attend training sessions on child advocacy issues, legal rights of children, trauma-informed care, etc.Stay informed about current legislation affecting children’s rights at local, state, and national levels.Reporting:Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and interactions with families.Prepare reports on program effectiveness and areas for improvement.Qualifications:MUST be 18 years and above.Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology or a related field (preferred).Experience working with children or families in a social service or educational setting.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.Knowledge of child welfare laws and best practices in advocacy is a plus.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Skills Required:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.Empathy and compassion towards children and families facing challenges.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms for outreach purposes.Why Join Us? This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact on an international scale, working alongside passionate and dedicated individuals. A S2F Virtual Coach plays a significant role in encouraging children weekly to achieve positive change physically, mentally, and emotionally through fitness and literacy. Coaches help build confidence and motivation within children, while reducing learning gaps and developing a lifelong love of learning.Our Brainworx! is an online afterschool program for students in grades 1-6 and runs twice a week between Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for 30-40 minutes each session. We focus on physical activity, literacy, and social-emotional development. Each group has 10-12 students and 3-4 coaches. Our Brainworx program has various start times between 4:30pm - 6:30pm EST.  We’re looking for reliable, tech-savvy volunteers to support students in Grades 1–6 through virtual sessions. As a Virtual Volunteer, you’ll help create a fun, inclusive, and consistent online learning space where kids feel seen and supported. About Us: DEFEND is a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization committed to reducing online risks for children and vulnerable individuals. We work on initiatives that push for stronger online protections and digital literacy. Our Advocacy Team is currently advancing two petitions in North America: - We are seeking to have age/ID verification MANDATORY on all social media. We are petitioning the Governments of Canada and the US to begin with. (We've already served this onto the Canadian government with a positive response) - We are also looking to petition ALL US states and Canadian provinces for mandatory social media literacy classes to be taught in all elementary schools. We are looking for passionate volunteers across North America with experience in administration or management or ANYONE interested, to help progress our hard copy petitions. These people will manage multiple people and will create plans for implementation working closely with our Advocacy Team. Role Description: As a Petition/Rally Supporter, you’ll work with our Advocacy Team to implement strategies that move our petitions forward. You’ll help recruit, manage, and support a team of petition advocates, contributing to project plans and attending weekly meetings to discuss progress. Key Responsibilities: - Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings to provide updates and feedback. - Collaborate with team members to develop an actionable Project Plan for petition goals. - Recruit and manage team members for the Petition Team. - Coordinate efforts across teams to ensure goals are met on time and efficiently. Qualifications: - Passionate about DEFEND’s mission to protect kids and vulnerable people online. - Experience in administration or management is a plus, but open to anyone interested in helping. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a team. - Excellent communication skills for collaboration within the Advocacy Team. - Flexible hours, approximately a few hours per week, with remote work options.
