Cardel Rec South is a community-based recreational center located in Shawnessy. The idea for the center was first proposed by a group of concerned community members in the mid-1990s. They believed that a center like this would be a valuable resource for the community, providing a place for people to participate in sports, fitness, and other recreational activities. The process of turning this vision into a reality was not easy, but the community was determined and worked hard to make it happen. Finally, in January 2001, the first phase of the center opened to the public. This phase included two ice rinks, a gym, and a few meeting rooms. The center has likely undergone additional development and expansion since its initial opening, but the core mission of providing a place for community members to come together and participate in recreational activities remains the same.
Calgary Heritage Housing (CHH) has been a steward of local Alberta seniors housing assets for nearly four decades. Our focus is to provide housing and foster a caring, inclusive community for independent seniors with a low-to-moderate income. In addition to affordable, safe and secure housing, we help tenants in obtaining community-based support services, so they are able to sustain a healthy and functionally independent lifestyle. Our Life Enrichment Team also facilitates opportunities for tenant engagement and encouraging active aging through pop-events, fitness classes, workshops and on-site access to services like dental and foot care.

The Calgary Winter Market is a holiday attraction that delivers a delightful winter experience for family and friends, reminiscent of charming European markets. A magical, outdoor European-style winter market in downtown Calgary, designed as a warm and inviting place for people to gather, celebrate the season, and embrace the spirit of Hygge. Hygge (pronounced “hoo-gah”) is a Scandinavian concept that represents a feeling of warmth, comfort, and connection—created through cozy spaces, meaningful moments, and shared experiences. Through lighting, food, entertainment, and thoughtful design, this market brings that feeling to life. This is more than a market—it’s an immersive winter experience.
Wings of Hope is a registered, 100% volunteer-run, charitable organization that provides financial relief for basic living expenses, allowing breast cancer patients to focus on their recovery. Patients who are receiving treatment from the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre or have received treatment previously from the Tom Baker Cancer Centre are eligible for funding. Funding currently covers housing (rent/mortgage), groceries and utilities. Since its founding in 1996, Wings of Hope—thanks to the unwavering support of donors, sponsors and volunteers—has raised more than $1.3 million to provide direct financial assistance to those facing breast cancer treatment and struggling to afford basic necessities for themselves and their families. This crucial support allows recipients to focus on healing and recovery without the added burden of financial stress. Of the total funds raised, 71% have been directed towards housing, with over 750 instances of support provided, while 20% has helped put groceries on the table. The remaining funds have been allocated across utilities, medical costs, phone bills, and transportation. With the rising cost of living, the demand for Wings of Hope’s assistance continues to grow.

Liver Canada (LC), formerly known as the Canadian Liver Foundation, was first established in 1969 out of the passion and concern of a group of business leaders and doctors who believed that liver disease and those affected needed a champion. Since then, LC has relentlessly driven advancements in research, treatment, and support. We remain the only non-governmental organization in Canada focused on liver health, and we’re the main source of non-profit funding for all forms of liver diseases. With the help of donors, volunteers, researchers, health professionals, corporate supporters, and community members, we are changing the future of liver health for those living in Canada. We will continue to support Canada’s top liver experts. We will educate Canadians on ways to protect their liver health. We will be there for people coping with liver diseases so that no one has to face it alone. We won’t stop until we realize a world where there’s liver health for all.
