Organization: DEFEND- Protecting Kids Online! Location: Remote About Us: DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to protecting children and other vulnerable people online. Our mission is to reduce online risks through education and technology to create safer digital spaces. DEFEND's Education Team develops impactful educational materials, webinars, and tools for parents, kids, and caregivers to address online safety. Join us to make a difference and contribute to creating safer digital spaces! Role Description: We are seeking Team Leads and Content Writers who are passionate about protecting kids online. As a Team Lead, you will oversee team activities and drive educational initiatives. Content Writers will contribute to the development of compelling written or video materials, helping to raise awareness about online safety risks like dangerous TikTok challenges and executing project completion on a regular basis (one written article every other week approximately OR one 1 min video every other week) This is a volunteer position requiring a commitment of a few hours per week. Key Responsibilities: For Team Leads: Organize team goals, support team members, and drive team growth. Prioritize and align educational efforts with DEFEND’s mission. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality educational content. For Content Writers & Creators: Conduct research and stay informed about internet trends and online safety risks. Create engaging articles (one every other week) or short educational videos (1 min bi-weekly). Use provided tools and resources to develop content (e.g., scripts, music, assets). Ensure content aligns with DEFEND’s standards and is suitable for various platforms, including social media and our website. Qualifications: Strong passion for online safety and protecting vulnerable populations. Excellent writing, editing, or video production skills (depending on your focus). Ability to conduct research and translate findings into meaningful content. Leadership skills for Team Leads, with experience in organizing and supporting teams. Creative thinking and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. Familiarity with social media platforms and internet trends is a plus.
