Join LARC for the second screening in our Mexican cinema series with the highly acclaimed film La guerra de Manuela Jankovic (2014) by director Diana Cardozo. It is the year 1991. Manuela works as a cook and lives with her grandmother, a Serbian immigrant who went to Mexico fleeing from the World War II. Surrounded by her grandmother’s memories and wounds, Manuela inherited the war trauma while growing up. Then, the Balkans conflict breaks out 11 thousand miles away and madness settles around these women, seizing them as the war continues at other side of the world.
