From Gutenberg to Google, the Social Life of Ink

Ted Bishop is the author of Riding with Rilke: Reflections on Motorcycles and Books, named Best Book by the Toronto Globe and Mail, CBC’s Talking Books, and winner of the City of Edmonton Book Prize, the Alberta Writers’ Guild Wilfred Eggleston Award, and the national Motorcycle Award of Excellence (MAX). His The Social Life of Ink: A Rich and Imaginative Discovery of how Ink has Shaped Culture and Why it is Here to Stay was nominated for a Governor General’s Award for non-fiction, and won the Alberta Writers’ Guild Award for Non-fiction. He teaches creative nonfiction, book history, and modernist literature at the University of Alberta, and he has published extensively on Virginia Woolf, the Bloomsbury Group, James Joyce, dust jackets, archives, and bookstores.
