Opportunity Description:

Quest Theatre (Calgary/Moh’kinsstis) is searching for a volunteer Treasurer/Chair of our Finance Committee and member of our Board Executive.  Our ideal candidate is a CPA with 10+ years of experiences, based in Calgary and interested in supporting Quest’s vision, mission and values. For almost 40 years, Quest Theatre has nurtured young people through exceptional adventures in theatre, creating intelligent and whimsical work that encourages young people to explore who they are, discover what is important, and build the kind of world they want to live in. We do theatre WITH young people and FOR young people with the knowledge that exposure to the arts is vital for their personal growth, character development, and sense of belonging in society. Major responsibilities include: Treasurer *The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Society’s finances and ensuring the Society’s financial position and condition are maintained consistent with the goals and plans set by the Board. *Oversee overall finances with the support of the board Ensure financial documentation is properly maintained for the organization *Ensures society is fulfilling CRA reporting requirements *Oversee audit *Present financial report at the board meetings *Present financial report at the AGM *Supports the society with short- and long-term financial planning, as needed Finance Committee Chair *Schedules committee meetings *Guides committee in setting annual goals *Provides committee report at board meetings (if there are any in addition to the financial update) and ensures this update is provided to the secretary for inclusion in the minutes *Tracks committee activities, progress against goals and effectiveness of committee. *Reports these back to the society members at the AGM. Finance Committee Responsibilities *Receiving, reviewing and discussing monthly or quarterly financial reports with Management *Providing oversight of the annual budgeting process and serving as a sounding board for Management in identifying and managing financial risk *Monitoring internal controls and ensuring Management is in compliance with GAAP, legal and regulatory bodies *Reviewing and evaluating the financial statements *Protecting the integrity of the financial statements and other information of the Society *Selecting the independent Auditor annually, establishing the compensation, and monitoring the audit work *Ensuring an adequate and meaningful flow of information regarding financial matters between Management, the Committee, the Society’s auditors, and the Board as a whole. Time Commitment Finance Committee meetings are held virtually approximately 6 times per year and Board meetings are held approximately 6 times per year in person.  Some ad hoc meetings and work may be required.   Apply Now Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is found.
