Breaking the Cycles by Creating the Circles As a supportive and skills building sisterhood, Stardale Women’s Group has empowered the lives of Indigenous girls, strengthened their families, and inspired communities to engage in the core values of reconciliation for over 25 years. Together, with the generous efforts of our community and volunteers, we build resilience across generations by providing positive and supportive environments through our after school and mentoring programs for Indigenous young women and girls between the ages of 10-17 yrs. Stardale is always looking to welcome female volunteers 18+ who are interested in joining our team by lending their time and talents in the following capacities: DRIVERS to and from weekly programming are key to removing transportation barriers affecting the girl’s ability to participate and flourish. Predominantly Monday and Wednesday evenings between 4:30pm-8:30pm. TUTORS help build confidence in learning abilities and self, plus contribute to positive outcomes as they pertain to literacy and education. Tutoring takes place in both group (homework club) and 1-on-1 settings at the Elementary, Junior High and High School levels. MENTORS provide friendship, guidance, problem-solving and support in life skills, resource development, and the building of safe and healthy relationships. Minimum commitment is 1 year with weekly or biweekly connections. MEAL PREP + KITCHEN HELP ensures that each girl has a warm and nutritious meal during class time. Volunteers adhere to a set meal budget and are reimbursed for food costs. Meals are most often needed on Wednesday evenings and need to be dropped off prior to 5:30pm if you cannot stay to also assist in the kitchen. Come make a difference by creating space for reconciliation and inclusion. These girls need you and with your support, we can move forward together and overcome adversity.
