Position: Fund Development Officer Organization: AfroCare Support Network Location: Remote, Calgary Employment Type: Volunteering About AfroCare Support Network AfroCare Support Network is a community-driven non-profit organization committed to empowering people living with HIV (PHAs), addressing food insecurity, housing, mental health and wellbeing, and fostering social inclusivity within Black and marginalized communities in Calgary and beyond. We offer support groups, workshops, educational programs, and community engagement initiatives to improve health and well-being for all. Position Overview AfroCare Support Network is seeking a passionate and results-oriented Fund Development Officer to lead our fundraising efforts. This individual will play a key role in securing resources to advance our mission by developing and implementing strategies to engage donors, secure grants, and plan fundraising campaigns. The ideal candidate is a skilled relationship builder, a creative strategist, and an organized professional with a commitment to social change. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan with clear goals and objectives. Research and identify funding opportunities, including individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants. Create and oversee fundraising campaigns, including digital initiatives and special events. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with new and existing donors. Manage a donor database to track contributions and engagement activities. Plan and execute fundraising events, such as galas, community outreach initiatives, and workshops. Research, write, and submit grant applications to secure funding from foundations and government programs. Work with the communications team to develop impactful fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, and social media content. Track and analyze fundraising outcomes, providing regular reports to the Executive Director Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Non-profit Management, Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. 2–3 years of experience in fundraising, development, sales, or non-profit management. Skills and Attributes Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and build relationships. Proven experience in donor cultivation and grant writing. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and achieve fundraising targets. Passionate about AfroCare Support Network’s mission and dedicated to social equity.
