About Us
Optimist International is recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all youth (15 to 24 years of age) and helps them develop to their full potential. As part of Optimist International, the <a href="http://www.optimistyyc.org">Optimist Club of Calgary</a> is committed to youth development activities and programming in the City of Calgary and the surrounding area.
Since our club was chartered in 1938, our club has focused on the following areas:
<ul>
<li><b>Education –</b>school programming related to skills development, the fine arts, public speaking, essay writing, and scholarships (i.e. Mount Royal University, SAIT, Calgary Foundation).</li>
<li><b>Health</b> – mental and physical health, obesity, addictions, and bullying.</li>
<li><b>Community</b> – community programming related to skills development, picnics, and family days.</li>
<li><b>Sports</b> – junior curling, junior golf, disabled skiing.</li>
