The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is an international Christian organization that began its work in Canada in 1882 and has grown to become one of the largest non-governmental direct providers of social services in the country. We give hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada.

In 1887 The Salvation Army began its work in Calgary by opening our first church in the city, The Calgary Citadel Corps. Over the years, The Salvation Army in Calgary continued to grow, increasing its social and religious services into three churches, one hospice and one social services unit.

In 2005, our social services were amalgamated into one unit presently known as “Community Services (Calgary)” and our goal is to offer hope through supportive services to strengthen our community.

When you give to The Salvation Army, you are investing in the future of your community.
