The Salvation Army is an international Christian organization that began its work in Canada in 1882 and has grown to become one of the largest non-governmental direct providers of social services in the country. We give hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada. In 1887 The Salvation Army began its work in Calgary by opening our first church in the city, The Calgary Citadel Corps. Over the years, The Salvation Army in Calgary continued to grow, increasing its social and religious services into three churches, one hospice and one social services unit. In 2005, our social services were amalgamated into one unit presently known as “Community Services (Calgary)” and our goal is to offer hope through supportive services to strengthen our community. Rabboni Support Society of Alberta support children and adults with special needs at the Rabboni Centre, in the community and in their homes. Our aim is to provide high quality and compassionate care services that support individuals with special needs, disabilities or health challenges, while giving their primary caregivers relief, rest and peace of mind.

Scaring for a cause since 1992 Haunted Calgary is one of Western Canada’s largest and longest-running haunted attractions, offering spine-chilling, immersive Halloween experiences that thrill thousands of guests each year. Operated by a passionate team of volunteers, we transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary worlds of horror, using professional-quality sets, special effects, costuming, and live actors to create unforgettable scares. Our events aren’t just about fear—they’re about community. Proceeds support local charities, community programs, and Haunted Calgary’s year-round work to spread the joy of Halloween. We welcome volunteers of all ages, skills, and scare levels, with opportunities in acting, makeup, construction, set design, technical operations, customer service, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned haunter or brand new to the spooky scene, you’ll find a place in our creative, inclusive, and wildly fun family. Join us to make memories, meet new friends, and be part of something legendary—while making hearts race and screams echo. Volunteer roles may include: Haunted house actors and performers Makeup artists and costume assistants Set builders and decorators Technical and lighting crew Event operations and guest services As a social enterprise, any profits are reinvested into more scares for Calgary and shared with the charitable partners that our volunteers choose. We are a vibrant community association based inner city close to the university, ctrains and many schools. We offer many community events that bring people from our community as well as neighbouring communities and across the city, especially to our much loved stampede event in July, family friendly engagements and music in the park events in the summer. CISV (Children's International Summer Villages) was founded in the belief that peace is possible through building friendship and mutual understanding, starting with children. We help our young participants develop to their full potential as future leaders and active citizens, to make a difference in their communities and the world. We also give them the opportunity to build global friendships and networks that will last them a lifetime. Our innovative, fun, non-formal ‘learning by doing’ programmes begin with our original and unique Village programme for 11-year-olds. We offer an exciting blend of seven international camp-based, family exchange, and local community programmes. CISV International is a global organization dedicated to educating and inspiring for peace through building inter-cultural friendship, cooperation, and understanding. Founded in 1950, today we are a federation of nearly 70 National Associations with over 200 Chapters or local groups.

  Canadian Mental Health Association, Alberta Division and Centre for Suicide Prevention (CMHA AB + CSP) work to further community mental health and suicide prevention across the province. Together with CMHA Regions and our partners, we’re building an Alberta where people’s wellbeing is supported in their community – by a friend, a peer, a support group, their local CMHA office, or the medical system. We equip people with the information, knowledge and skills necessary to respond to people considering suicide. We educate online, in print, and interactively. Our library of over 50,000 suicide-specific items, the largest English-language collection of its kind, informs the work we do.

L’Arche Calgary is a welcoming community where people with and without intellectual disabilities share life, work, and growth in an environment of friendship and belonging. Since 1973, we have provided supportive housing, day programs, and personalized care, fostering mutual respect, dignity, and inclusion. Our five homes, Tamarack Day Program, and Supported Independent Living Program empower individuals with disabilities to thrive. As part of the L’Arche Federation, we are united by a common mission to celebrate the unique gifts of every person and to build a world where belonging and community are at the heart of everything we do.

The Canadian Centre for Men and Families (CCMF) Alberta provides a safe and welcoming space for men while they navigate relationship distress. Our aim is to help equip men so they can be more involved fathers, better partners, safer workers, and more engaged contributing members of their communities. Our clients are mostly men who have experienced distressing events and/or trauma causing them to suffer emotionally and usually financially. They need a safe place to belong and have meaningful conversations so that they can create a better future for themselves and their families. We are currently looking for volunteers to help out at our new Interim Housing Facility: This facility provides a safe and spacious temporary living opportunity for single men and fathers with children. It is dedicated to supporting those who have experienced any form of domestic abuse or family crisis.

Nifty Fifties is a registered charity that provides a place where Calgary seniors 50+ can come together to enjoy social events, workshops, art classes, bridge and other activities that match their unique needs and social interests. We recognize that seniors strengthen the community and offer a place to enhance their physical, social and emotional well-being.
