Camp Cadicasu Assocation of Calgary

For over 93 years, Camp Cadicasu Association of Calgary has provided a safe, affordable place for children and youth aged 7-15 years of age as well as over 10+ generations of families, the Calgary Public and Separate School Board, special interest groups like the Duke of Edinburgh Award candidates, Boys Scouts, Girl Guides, Environmental workshop attendees, Hikers and sports enthusiasts who want easy access to the ski hills of Canmore and Banff.  We also host weddings and family get-togethers for Calgarians of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Today our Board, whose members possess and demonstrate a strategic combination of personal attributes, expertise, social capital, competencies, and occupational backgrounds so that, collectively, it has access to a broad diversity of experiences, perspectives, knowledge, connections, and skills to carry out its governance, planning, stewardship, and advocacy functions. We are looking for a Board Director. Terms are for three (3) years, and term limits are set at 3 terms.  Camp Cadicasu orientation and training is provided to new Board Directors. Board Directors commit to attending and actively participating in approximately four (2-hour) Board Meetings/year (on ZOOM), 1 full-day Strategy Meeting, and approximately four (2-hour) Committee Meetings/year. Please note that most Board Directors serve on one Committee  Management, Fundraising, Marketing, Human Resource Advisor, Finance, Special Projects, and Governance). Based on Camp Cadicasu's most recent skills matric review, <strong>our immediate preference for the upcoming Board appointments will be given to a candidate demonstrating strategic skillsets and experience in Financial Management</strong>. While previous Board governance experience is not required, successful candidates must exhibit the qualities of a strong governor. We are a community of over 1,600 individuals committed to the balanced, sustainable use of Kananaskis Country, as well as the protection and sharing of its unique natural and cultural experiences. With over 5 million visits per year, and a population base exceeding 1 million bordering this natural wonderland, Kananaskis Country is not immune to development and use pressures. Working collaboratively with our partners, we develop programs and activities that:

<li>Actively protect the ecosystems within Kananaskis Country through trail care and other volunteer programs;</li>
<li>Educate people about the appropriate use of this natural treasure through our environmental education programs;</li>
<li>Engage communities and individuals in the stewardship of Kananaskis Country through direct participation and sponsorship opportunities;</li>
<li>Support sustainable use initiatives undertaken in partnership with the Kananaskis division of Environment and Parks.</li>

Grizzly Boxing & Fitness

We are a boxing and fitness club for youth, adults, older adults & seniors.  We have been in operation in Calgary since 2012, offering both competitive and recreational boxing training.  In 2016 we launched an adaptive fitness and cognitive skills based program for people living with Parkinson's Disease.  This program is non-contact of course and it is truly at the "heart" of everything we do at Grizzly!
