Founded in 1990 by composer Roberta Stephen, Calgary's Contemporary Showcase has been held every year, reaching thousands of students since its inception. Part of the Alliance for Canadian New Music Projects (ACNMP), Contemporary Showcase is hosted in centres around the nation, drawing on a wide range of sponsors to sponsor awards at the local and national level.
The only festival of its kind in Canada, Contemporary Showcase is devoted entirely to music by Canadian composers. It is non-competitive in that no marks are awarded, no ranking given and the adjudications take place in a master class atmosphere designed to be informative and supportive. Outstanding performers are further encouraged through scholarship recognition. Many scholarship recipients of the past festivals have gone on to make their mark in the music world. Notables include Jean Stillwell, Scott St. John, Measha Brueggergosman, Lara St. John, and Stewart Goodyear.
The organization is growing and being recognized as one that is currently building performers, composers and audiences for the future. No other organization continues to promote the performance, composition and study of Canadian Contemporary Music.
DIY Theatre is a Calgary-based, independent, semi-professional theatre company and we are recruiting a new member to our voluntary Board of Directors to serve as Treasurer.
We are a registered non-profit organization and although we are small, we are very mighty and we are at an exciting point in our organizational growth! This is a rewarding, exciting and varied position that will help shape the future of DIY.
DIY Theatre is committed to producing work that is raw, authentic, and embraces the flawed through examining issues of conscience, ethics and morality in both classical and contemporary theatre. All of our work is chosen with the intent of provoking conversation and focuses on drawing in the audience like a good story being told around a fire.

For nearly 50 years, The Calgary Boys’ Choir has been delivering dynamic, engaging, high quality choral instruction, performance opportunities and formative experiences designed for boys. Our vision is to empower boys to be remarkable, expressive and creative citizens. ART SPOT is a non-profit artist/volunteer run organization that has been a home to emerging artists since 2008. Most known for the notorious “Under $100 Art Show”; which, in it’s 14th year of operation, featured over 200 local artists and brought out over 4000 attendees, and with over 100 art events under it's belt, ART SPOT is an integral part of the Calgary art scene.
StoryBook Theatre is Canada's largest volunteer-driven Theatres for Young Audiences and families. In our almost 46 years of serving Calgary, we have fostered the love and passion for theatre arts in over one million people. Each season we bring together some of the industries brightest emerging talents both on and off the stage to create some incredibly accessible theatre for the whole family.

We operate a heritage home, museum, galleries, outdoor trails, and education centre in the Alberta foothills, southwest of Calgary. Our 80-acre facility welcomes approximately 20,000 visitors each year who come to enjoy our exhibitions, landscape, and programs.

The Calgary Stampede is a not-for-profit community organization that preserves and celebrates our western heritage, cultures and community spirit. Supported by over 3,000 passionate volunteers, our year-round events, 10-Day Celebration, programs and initiatives invest in youth, support agricultural programs, celebrate western culture and make a lasting economic impact in our city.
The Festival Chorus was founded in 1959 as an amateur adult community chorus in Calgary. It is entering its 65th season in the fall of 2023. There are 40 to 50 members in the chorus. The chorus is led by an Artistic Director and has a Board of Directors that include a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The chorus performs an annual series of 3 concerts of a varied repertoire.
