StoryBook Theatre is Canada's largest volunteer-driven Theatres for Young Audiences and families. In our almost 46 years of serving Calgary, we have fostered the love and passion for theatre arts in over one million people. Each season we bring together some of the industries brightest emerging talents both on and off the stage to create some incredibly accessible theatre for the whole family. We bring stories to life in a way that encourages children and their families to dream about who they are and may become, to explore the story from different perspectives, to think using inductive reasoning, and to connect to other people and ideas.

Health – mental and physical health, obesity, addictions, and bullying. Community – community programming related to skills development, picnics, and family days. The Drop-In Centre welcomes adults at risk of, or currently experiencing homelessness. We work to provide access to a spectrum of care that supports each person’s transition to the most independent living situation possible—including emergency shelter, programs and services, and affordable and supported housing.

Hakili Community for Sustainable Development is a non-profit organization born in Calgary in 2016. We work within our communities to tackle the complex problem of poverty in Canada but also all around the world. We want to address intergenerational poverty and identify creative and sustainable strategies to eradicate the problem.

My passion for helping abandoned, abused and neglected animals led to the creation of Megan’s Rescue Efforts Society. Together with my team of equally passionate and committed volunteers, we focus our efforts on the Calgary area, and thanks to the generous support of our community we have flourished. As a small non-profit and foster-based rescue, we rely solely on donations, fundraising events and our faithful partners for our continuing success. We make certain that the animals we rescue receive the medical attention they need, including spay/neutering and vaccinations, and are properly trained and socialized before being placed in carefully selected adoptive homes. Because we screen potential adopters to ensure they’re the best possible match for our animals, some may remain in our care a long time. But because we’re committed to every animal we save, we will never put one down to make room for another due to either space or non-health related issues. I invite you to view our entire site. Volunteer Grant Writer Bright Lights For Africa is a Canadian registered charity and non-governmental organization, whose vision is to empower marginalized and vulnerable individuals through acts of love, compassion, and generosity, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. We serve both local and international communities and focus on tackling root causes of poverty to create sustainable and lasting change in the lives of those we serve. We have an exciting volunteer opportunity for a Grant Administrator! You will work remotely, about 4 to 6 hours per week and apply your skillset to support the grant/funding application process at Bright Lights for Africa. As a vibrant and open space for creativity, Leighton Art Centre inspires us to explore, appreciate, and create. We operate a heritage home, museum, galleries, outdoor trails, and education centre in the Alberta foothills, southwest of Calgary. Our 80-acre facility welcomes approximately 20,000 visitors each year who come to enjoy our exhibitions, landscape, and programs.

The Brenda Strafford Foundation is a registered Canadian charitable organization established in 1975 by Dr. Barrie I. Strafford to honour his late wife, Brenda Strafford. The Brenda Strafford Foundation's core business is seniors care. The Foundation now owns and operates five Long Term Care and Assisted Living seniors care facilities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB, with over 1000 beds and approximately 1,200 staff. As a registered charity, The Foundation is involved in a number of projects for innovation in seniors health and wellness. The Foundation supports local charitable projects to serve women and children who are fleeing domestic violence, families at risk of homelessness, and persons in need of health services abroad in Haiti, Jamaica and Dominica. The Foundation also has a close affiliation with research at the University of Calgary.
