The Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society aims to create a safe space where all storytellers are welcome. We provide a relaxed, friendly and encouraging environment where writers of all ages and abilities can practice their craft and sharing the joys and difficulties of the writing experience. We support writers’ development through a variety of classes, programs, and events, creating and reshaping offerings to meet the needs and interests of our members.

The Canadian Pride Historical Society (CPHS) is a non-profit organization with the goal of documenting the Pride Movement in Canada. The CPHS’s vision is to inspire conversations about the future of the Pride Movement in Canada as we share the stories of our past. Our goal is to: Record and preserve the history of the Pride Movement in Canada so that future generations can understand why we have Pride, and Provide education resources through digital and physical exhibits on the history of the Pride Movement in Canada.

The Alberta Drama Festival Association is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization whose mandate is to encourage, develop and maintain community theatre in Alberta. The main vehicle for pursuing this mandate is the adult, non-professional One-Act Play Festivals held throughout Alberta. Regional organizations in each of the nine zones host annual festivals which bring together community groups in a celebration and sharing of theatre excellence.

The historic GRAND theatre has spanned over a century as a hub for Calgary’s art, culture and political communities. Built in 1912, The Lougheed block has seen the city’s landscape evolve and we are proud to call this iconic structure our home. We welcome companies, collectives and individuals to come together and learn from one another, building shared meaning and culture for our city. The GRAND is a not-for-profit organization (Charitable Registration: 134483981 RR0001). Since 2006, the theatre has been a centre for creation and presentation of contemporary performance from Calgary, Canada, and around the world.

For almost 50 years, The Pumphouse Theatre has been a home for Calgary’s emerging performing arts scene. In any given year more than a dozen companies will produce over 35 shows in the two theatres. The groups that perform at the Pumphouse Theatre range from large established companies to small up-and-coming artists collectives. Consequently, the shows produced here range from blockbuster musicals to Irish dramas to cutting-edge performance art as well as dance. The Pumphouse Theatre is committed not only to providing a high-quality venue for the arts but also to keeping that venue affordable for Calgary’s arts community.

The BJP Music Foundation (BJP) is a mostly volunteer-led, grassroots arts organization that prioritizes presenting world-class musicians through an intimate setting. Our goal is to expand operations in the future so we are able to engage more diverse audiences through creative collaborations via larger Calgary venues. Ultimately, we want to ensure musicians are paid fairly for the talent and experience they bring; we are committed to fair performance fees, gender parity and diversity in programming. With much success over the past 9 years, we continue this commitment, building community around professional and aspiring artists so they can rehearse, exhibit, present and perform their artistic works for the public, while advancing education and artistic appreciation through learning and training opportunities.

The Canmore Folk Music Festival is Alberta's longest-running folk music festival, celebrating 48 years of music, community, and creativity. Held annually over the August long weekend, the festival brings together a dynamic lineup of local, national, and international artists, drawing an audience of over 5,000 people each day to the stunning Rocky Mountain town of Canmore. With its picturesque setting and welcoming atmosphere, the Canmore Folk Festival has become a beloved destination for music lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Scaring for a cause since 1992 Haunted Calgary is one of Western Canada’s largest and longest-running haunted attractions, offering spine-chilling, immersive Halloween experiences that thrill thousands of guests each year. Operated by a passionate team of volunteers, we transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary worlds of horror, using professional-quality sets, special effects, costuming, and live actors to create unforgettable scares. Our events aren’t just about fear—they’re about community. Proceeds support local charities, community programs, and Haunted Calgary’s year-round work to spread the joy of Halloween. We welcome volunteers of all ages, skills, and scare levels, with opportunities in acting, makeup, construction, set design, technical operations, customer service, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned haunter or brand new to the spooky scene, you’ll find a place in our creative, inclusive, and wildly fun family. Join us to make memories, meet new friends, and be part of something legendary—while making hearts race and screams echo. Volunteer roles may include: Haunted house actors and performers Makeup artists and costume assistants Set builders and decorators Technical and lighting crew Event operations and guest services As a social enterprise, any profits are reinvested into more scares for Calgary and shared with the charitable partners that our volunteers choose. Formed in 1997, the Victoria Park Business Improvement Area (BIA)* is a not-for-profit business association that represents more than 350 merchants and businesses in the community of Victoria Park. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the BIA works to promote and improve the area and is an advocate on important community issues. Victoria Park is located in the Beltline just south of the downtown core, with boundaries roughly extending east to west from the Elbow River to 2nd St SW, and north to south from the CPR tracks near 10th Ave to 17th Ave S. Membership is automatic for businesses falling within the BIA boundaries.

Nature Calgary holds meetings, organizes field trips and has in the past published a number of natural history books, including guides to natural areas of the city or greeting cards. We also advocate for the preservation of natural areas within the Calgary area. For example we were involved with the development of the Weed Lake area in partnership with Ducks Unlimited.
