Calgary's longest running community theatre company celebrating its 53rd year of providing live theatre to the citizens of Calgary.

The Calgary Stampede is a not-for-profit community organization that preserves and celebrates our western heritage, cultures and community spirit.  Supported by over 3,000 passionate volunteers, our year-round events, 10-Day Celebration, programs and initiatives invest in youth, support agricultural programs, celebrate western culture and make a lasting economic impact in our city.

The Festival Chorus was founded in 1959 as an amateur adult community chorus in Calgary.  It is entering its 65th season in the fall of 2023.  There are 40 to 50 members in the chorus.  The chorus is led by an Artistic Director and has a Board of Directors that include a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  The chorus performs an annual series of 3 concerts of a varied repertoire.

THE GRAND’s mission is to be a Culture House presenting high quality and thought provoking art, creating diverse and inclusive experiences, and bringing together artists and audiences to invoke a new way of thinking, appreciating and being, which transforms the community. The historic GRAND theatre has spanned over a century as a hub for Calgary’s art, culture and political communities. Built in 1912, The Lougheed block has seen the city’s landscape evolve and we are proud to call this iconic structure our home. We welcome companies, collectives and individuals to come together and learn from one another, building shared meaning and culture for our city. The GRAND is a not-for-profit organization (Charitable Registration: 134483981 RR0001). Since 2006, the theatre has been a centre for creation and presentation of contemporary performance from Calgary, Canada, and around the world. Today, the GRAND theatre houses a variety of event spaces perfect for a unique wedding, private event, corporate party or presentation, as well as arts, culture, performance and theatre events. With four distinct spaces to choose from, studios, dressing rooms and, of course, the versatile theatre are available to rent for a variety of purposes and events.

Since 2007, Sled Island's thoughtful, eclectic programming and independent spirit have produced a one-of-a-kind festival experience. Each June, the five-day music and arts festival brings together a community of music, comedy, film and art as well as over 40,000 attendees across multiple venues, earning rave reviews from attendees, artists and media across the globe. The Calgary Folk Club is Calgary’s first folk music club. In our 50 years of operations, we have created vital partnerships to promote the city’s music scene and Alberta talent to the world. The Calgary Folk Club provides an environment of discovery, reflection, diversity and community. We provide a setting where our listening-oriented audience is keen to hear the musicality, harmonies and storytelling of the individuals and groups coming to the stage. We believe that providing diverse musical experiences for the Calgary area, where artists are paid according to Socan Standards, opens the western Canadian market for touring artists from across the world. The Calgary Folk Club is an inclusive venue where performers can refine their craft, test a new skill or song and perform to an attentive and observant audience. Each concert is composed of a ‘Main Act’ and a ‘First-up’. For the main, we seek out high-quality, renowned artists – often recognized award winners. Our first-up spaces are offered to award-winning performers, as well as up-and-coming artists who may be unfamiliar to the Calgary audience. We see the Club as Canada’s best live folk music venue. An attentive listening atmosphere that is diverse, accessible and affordable. We want to continue to foster a space where the current community members and future generations come together and interact with the artists to make music collaboratively.

The International Festival of Animated Objects Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mask & puppet related performance. As an incubator and producer of mask, puppetry, and animated objects we are the primary curator and presenter of local, national and international puppetry. We strive to provide Alberta audiences with the chance to experience the breadth and diversity of these innovative art forms. Vital to the development of puppetry as an art form, the festival not only provides a stage for Alberta creators to showcase their work but is also a forum for an international exchange of ideas providing learning opportunities for professional and emerging artists and the public at large to find expression through animated objects.

Opening in 2024, the Sam Centre is Calgary’s Stampede Story brought to life in an immersive, engaging and interactive experience that blends modern with history. Once open, the SAM Centre will connect Calgarians and visitors to the rich heritage of Alberta and the legendary story of the Calgary Stampede. Our team of volunteers will shape guest experiences that delight, inform, and invite visitors to be a part of Calgary’s compelling western heritage.

YouCreate is a Calgary non-profit company founded to promote artistic and musical community service projects. We also have a UCalgary club chapter which mirrors our projects. Every two years we focus on a new overarching theme. 2020 and 2021 focused on helping communities during the COVID-19 pandemic with fundraisers for the Drop-In Center, Calgary Food Bank, and more. In 2022 and 2023, we have been exploring the challenges faced by Indigenous communities through our podcast series: mynistypiksiiks (Many Different Birds). Our core mission and values include: - Educating the youth about local and global issues - Inspiring the world with youth changemakers - Empowering youth with skills, resources, and opportunities to become global leaders - Promoting inclusion through cultural awareness - Promoting creativity through aspiring youth artists, innovators, and musicians - Collaborating with other non-profit organizations

Heritage Park is one of Canada’s largest living history museums, with hundreds of exhibits, rides, shops, restaurants and daily demonstrations and activities to keep the young and the young-at-heart captivated in the past. Experiencing history is a year-round possibility. October to May is the Park’s winter operating season, during which you can explore the rare collection of vintage vehicles and petroliana in Gasoline Alley Museum and the charming shops and restaurants in the Heritage Town Square free zone, located before the Park gates. In the summer operating season, from May to October, the Heritage Town Square free zone, Gasoline Alley Museum and the bustling Historical Village are all open.

Artpoint Gallery & Studios Society was incorporated under the provisions of the Societies Act in 1998. Formed by artists, it is a non-profit artist-run studio and gallery supporting and promoting visual arts and art education in the Calgary community. The society’s web site can be found at www.artpoint.ca. The web site features the work of member artists and notices of current and upcoming shows. The Society is supported in part by grants from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Calgary Arts Development Authority.
