A S2F Virtual Coach plays a significant role in encouraging children weekly to achieve positive change physically, mentally, and emotionally through fitness and literacy. Coaches help build confidence and motivation within children, while reducing learning gaps and developing a lifelong love of learning.Our Brainworx! is an online afterschool program for students in grades 1-6 and runs twice a week between Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for 30-40 minutes each session. We focus on physical activity, literacy, and social-emotional development. Each group has 10-12 students and 3-4 coaches. Our Brainworx program has various start times between 3:30pm - 6:30pm EST.  We’re looking for reliable, tech-savvy volunteers to support students in Grades 1–6 through virtual sessions. As a Virtual Volunteer, you’ll help create a fun, inclusive, and consistent online learning space where kids feel seen and supported. Volunteer Opportunity – Millrise Seniors Village (Calgary, SW) Millrise Seniors Village is a vibrant seniors community located at 14911 5 Street SW, just off Macleod Trail, near Fish Creek Provincial Park and Shawnessy Shopping Centre. Operated by SE Health, a not-for-profit healthcare organization, Millrise Seniors Village provides a welcoming and supportive environment for 182 residents, offering a range of living options including Independent Living, Supportive Living, Memory Care, and Long-Term Care. We are currently looking for compassionate, reliable volunteers to join our team in the following roles: • Recreation Support – assisting with activities, programs, and social engagement • Dining Support – helping during meal times and supporting residents in the dining room • Laundry Support – assisting with folding and organizing resident laundry • Care Services – supporting staff with non-clinical resident care tasks • Reception – greeting visitors and supporting front-desk operations • Maintenance Support – assisting with light, non-technical tasks around the site Volunteering at Millrise Seniors Village is a rewarding way to give back, build meaningful connections, and make a real difference in the lives of seniors. About Us: DEFEND is a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization committed to reducing online risks for children and vulnerable individuals. We work on initiatives that push for stronger online protections and digital literacy. Our Advocacy Team is currently advancing two petitions in North America: - We are seeking to have age/ID verification MANDATORY on all social media. We are petitioning the Governments of Canada and the US to begin with. (We've already served this onto the Canadian government with a positive response) - We are also looking to petition ALL US states and Canadian provinces for mandatory social media literacy classes to be taught in all elementary schools. We are looking for passionate volunteers across North America with experience in administration or management or ANYONE interested, to help progress our hard copy petitions. These people will manage multiple people and will create plans for implementation working closely with our Advocacy Team. Role Description: As a Petition/Rally Supporter, you’ll work with our Advocacy Team to implement strategies that move our petitions forward. You’ll help recruit, manage, and support a team of petition advocates, contributing to project plans and attending weekly meetings to discuss progress. Key Responsibilities: - Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings to provide updates and feedback. - Collaborate with team members to develop an actionable Project Plan for petition goals. - Recruit and manage team members for the Petition Team. - Coordinate efforts across teams to ensure goals are met on time and efficiently. Qualifications: - Passionate about DEFEND’s mission to protect kids and vulnerable people online. - Experience in administration or management is a plus, but open to anyone interested in helping. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a team. - Excellent communication skills for collaboration within the Advocacy Team. - Flexible hours, approximately a few hours per week, with remote work options. Job Description: As a Unity Developer or 3D Modeler, you will work closely with our Unity Team to design and build interactive, user-focused elements for the 65square platform. This role involves developing 3D assets, coding in Unity, and collaborating with other teams to create a cohesive, engaging app that aligns with DEFEND’s mission. This is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about gaming, 3D modeling, and online safety to contribute to a meaningful project. Responsibilities: - Understand and adapt to the unique needs of the 65square platform and DEFEND’s mission. - Design and model 3D assets to enhance the app’s interactive, game-like experience. - Write and develop code in the Unity engine to create interactive features and user-driven elements. - Assist in creating and managing development plans, coordinating with other developers to build a robust core system. - Regularly meet with other DEFEND and 65square teams (on a flexible schedule) to brainstorm ideas and develop content aligned with the project’s goals. Qualifications: - Background in using Unity for game or app development. - Knowledge of 3D modeling software and design techniques; experience in asset creation is a plus. - Familiarity with C# or other relevant languages for Unity development. - Ability to think creatively and bring new ideas to enhance user interactivity. - Comfortable working as part of a team and open to feedback. - Available to volunteer 3-5 hours per week, with an interest in potentially transitioning to a paid role as the project evolves. This role offers an opportunity to make a real difference while working closely with our Social Media and Marketing Teams to amplify our mission. Responsibilities - Advocacy & Awareness: Participate in campaigns, rallies, and protests to support DEFEND’s mission for online safety. - Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and the public to strengthen our network. - Event Planning: Coordinate and execute impactful events in collaboration with DEFEND’s Social Media and Marketing Teams. - Team Collaboration: Attend weekly meetings, discuss progress, and contribute to developing an effective team strategy. - Leadership Support (for team leads): Manage meeting agendas, prepare reports, and communicate across DEFEND Teams. Qualifications - A passion for online safety and DEFEND’s mission to protect children on the internet. - Strong communication and public engagement skills. - Experience in event planning, marketing, or community outreach is helpful but not required. - Self-motivated, with a desire to work collaboratively in a remote team environment. - Advocates from all backgrounds (not limited to legal) are welcome!
