More than 500 members of the University of Calgary campus community pledged to take energy saving actions on campus and at home as part of the eighth annual PowerOFF Challenge. From turning off lights to taking shorter showers, participants collectively committed to save an estimated 225,000 kilowatt hours of energy between March 1 and 24; enough to power 375 Alberta homes for a month or save $13,500 in electricity costs.
