Everyone is welcome to attend this two day workshop led by Jon Joffe that explores the art of writing for film and television. As a participant you will explore the writing process, what to do before/after writing a screenplay and learn some of the challenges surrounding filmmaking. Speaker:

Jonathan Joffe began his career as a volunteer at NUTV in 1994. His first major film project, entitled Young Rocket Samurai, was released in 2002, and earned a national broadcast license on Canada’s Space Channel. Since then he has gone on to writer and direct a slate of short films which have won over 20 awards on the independent festival circuit, including the international sensation Cost Of Living, (Starring William B. Davis of The X-Files) which screened at over 45 festivals worldwide, and the award winning thriller The Boiler Room, which was released in 2008. He has directed over a dozen short films, the 3-part travel documentary Have Guide Will Travel for Canada’s Access Television, and the award winning sitcom pilot Desiciti, filmed on location in Manhattan. Joffe is also a prolific screenwriter, having penned 12 feature length screenplays, and having won multiple screenwriting awards. He currently has 2 screenplays under option with major Canadian distributors. The Burlesque Assassins (produced in association with Telefilm Canada and Supperchannel) is Joffe’s first feature, which he spent 2 years developing in conjunction with the international burlesque community and it was released in 2013.
