Poetry and storytelling can be powerful tools for personal and social change. In this playful and interactive spoken word workshop, participants will explore and express ideas relating to healthy masculinities and other issues important to participants. We will focus on finding and centring yourself in your story, and creating powerful political poems without pretence. This workshop is facilitated by award-winning spoken word poet Jeremy Loveday, who is the author of the viral videopoem Masks Off – A Challenge to Men. Experienced poets and soon-to-be poets alike are invited to participate. Please bring paper, a pen, and an open mind. This free event is co-hosted by the Women’s Resource Centre and the University of Calgary Spoken Word Club. It is part of the Ask First – Creating a Culture of Consent project, aimed at normalizing conversations about consent and ending sexual violence. This project is funded by your Students Union Quality Money. Students and non-students welcome.

The Women’s Resource Centre (MSC 482)
