Wings of Life film screening and Discussion with director Mitra Mansouri (reception to follow) Faculty, students and staff are invited for a screening of well-known Iranian-Canadian director Mitra Mansouri’s documentary Wings of Life. The film tells the story of an Iranian woman, MahMonir, successful paratrooper and pilot in the Shah’s Iran, who became an award-winning farmer after the Islamic Revolution of 1979. The film will be presented by the director herself, and will be followed by a discussion moderated by Safaneh Mohaghegh Neyshabouri, scholar of Iranian women’s literature, at the University of Alberta. This event is being organized by the Arabic Language and Muslim Culture program in the School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures, Faculty of Arts. Speaker:
Mitra Mansoori earned a Bachelor degree in Cinema from the Art University of Tehran, Iran. She has worked as a director and producer for 22 years in the film & television industry. In addition to numerous films, she is also the creator of Eastlink TV’s Koucheh (based on Halifax, Nova Scotia ), the first Farsi TV show in North Atlantic Canada for Farsi speakers.
