The Faculty of Arts’ Calgary Distinguished Writers Program is proud to partner with the Writers’ Guild of Alberta, Wordfest, and Shelf Life Books for Calgary’s 5th annual celebration and live broadcast of The Scotiabank Giller Prize in support of Frontier College—Canada’s original literacy organization. Readers, writers, and supporters of the arts will gather to hear five literary personalities champion a Giller finalist in advance of the broadcast. Our 2014 presenters include CDWP Writer-in-Residence Ian Williams, author Ali Bryan, poet Paul Zits, book reviewer Anne Logan, and creative ringleader Shelley Youngblut. The evening is hosted by always-entertaining spoken word artist and musician Kris Demeanor. Participate in “Guess the Giller” contests and raffle draws (someone is going to win a KOBO!) and watch the prize announcement all while raising money for literacy.
