Everyone is welcome to attend this workshop led by Cowboy Smithx that is designed for new and aspiring directors. As a participant, you will gain insight on the processes of storytelling and directing, learn about the film industry and receive helpful tips and tricks. Each day runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a lunch break. Instructor: Cowboy Smithx Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dates: Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016 Location: NUTV Studio (315 MacEwan Hall, 2500 University Dr. NW) Instructor bio: Cowboy Smithx is a filmmaker, storyteller and actor and the curator of REDx Talks. His 2015 film Elder in the Making won the award for Best Documentary Over 30 minutes from Alberta Film & Television Awards and Alberta Media Production Industries Association. Smithx has also produced numerous short films including Cree Code Talker which won first place at the 2015 HotDocs Bravo Factual Short Film Pitching Competition.
