Explore the legends of ancient Greece in the February night sky The Rothney Astrophysical Observatory’s first Open House of the year is happening Saturday, February 6, with a special presentation by Lisa Hughes from the University of Calgary’s Greek and Roman Studies department. Join the RAO for a fascinating evening recounting the epic tales of the Ancient Greek heroes, goddesses, legends, and clashes, and learn where to spot them in the constellations of the February night sky. The open house will feature access to an array of telescopes operated by University of Calgary astronomers and members of the Royal Astronomical Society. Visitors will also have the opportunity to look through the RAO’s telescopes (weather permitting), with astronomers on hand to answer questions. If the sky is clear, Jupiter is visible later in the evening, and a waning sliver of a moon should create great viewing conditions. Learn more about the RAO online at http://www.ucalgary.ca/rao/or on Twitter @RAOastronomy.
