Speaker:
Samantha C. Thrift is a feminist cultural studies scholar, whose research examines new media events, political media, and feminist histories and historiographies. She has published on the 1984 Canadian leadership debate on women’s issues and the erasure of high-profile feminist media events from national memory. Forthcoming publications include analyses of the feminist meme events of Binders Full of Women and the hashtag activism of #YesAllWomen. She is currently working on a book that traces feminist response to the neoliberal chill in Canada from 1984 to 1993.
