Dr. Eric Wasylenko, MD, BSc, MHSc is a palliative care physician in Calgary, will address Ethical issues surrounding the Canadian Supreme Court decision on Canadians’ right to doctor-assisted suicide. The talk will explore some of the medical, sociological, spiritual and humanist notions that provide the foundations for end of life care in Canada and hopefully strengthen understanding of this important part of our lives.

Speaker:
Eric Wasylenko, MD is a palliative care physician and clinical ethicist. He completed his MD at the University of Calgary in 1982, and his MHSc in Bioethics at University of Toronto in 2012. Since 2006 he has been is a clinical lecturer in the Division of Palliative Medicine, Department of Oncology, University of Calgary. Dr. Wasylenko consults to the Health Quality Council of Alberta and to Alberta Health Services and chairs the Public Health Ethics Advisory Committee of the Public Health Agency of Canada.
