The University of Calgary Department of Archaeology and the Association of Consulting Archaeologists are proud to co–host the talk series “Archaeology Beyond the Academy” aimed at filling the gap in interaction between the academic and consulting communities in Alberta and elsewhere. Archaeology Beyond the Academy: Forestry Archaeology in Alberta Kurtis Blaikie-Birkigt Senior Project Archaeologist, Tree Time Services Inc. Since 2010 Tree Time Services has specialized in forestry archaeology, conducting wide-ranging archaeological survey in a variety of boreal forest hinterland areas. Kurtis will present some of the key findings of five seasons of fieldwork, including interesting sites and occupation patterns, improvements in field methods, ongoing research projects and opportunities for further research using the large data set accumulated to date. Talks will be held every other Thursday from 5-6:30 PM on the University of Calgary campus beginning on 22 January. Look for announcements and mark your calendars for talks to be held during the Winter 2015 term.
