“One must have a mind of winter To regard the frost and the boughs Of the pine-trees crusted with snow” from “The Snow Man” by Wallace Stevens We have a new exhibit up today in the reception area of the Centre for Arts and Culture, TFDL 520. This display will be available for viewing until December 23, 2014. This selection of materials from Archives and Special Collections explores texts and images connected to our experience of snow and winter. Inspired by Adam Gopnik’s 2011 Massey Lectures Winter: Five Windows on the Season, we present books, documents, original drawings, and manuscripts that reveal the depth and breadth of winter. Gopnik discusses winter as having five windows: Romantic, Radical, Recuperative, Recreational and Remembering. What is winter for you: a climate, a delight, curse, or a state of mind? Items selected by Alexis Poeschek, Allison Wagner and Annie Murray.
