A day away in mindful silence is a beautiful gift to yourself! Please come to our campus-wide Day of Mindfulness, six hours of guided meditation and gentle mindful body movement, surrounded by a supportive community of practitioners in the Vitruvian Space at the University of Calgary. This event is for students, staff and faculty, and no previous meditation experience is needed. Please register by clicking here to reserve your spot. Space is limited. Donations of cash and/or non-perishable food items for the SU Campus Food Bank are accepted at the door. Location: Vitruvian Space Firmitas A & B (DC14) (Dining Centre, University of Calgary Main Campus) Facilitators: Rachael Crowder PhD RSW Faculty of Social Work, and mindfulness teacher presentmoment.ca Shawna Bava SU Wellness Centre, Physical Yoga Instructor Please arrive around 9:15 a.m. so we can start promptly at 9:30 a.m. We will be spending the day together in silence – however the facilitators will be guiding the retreat, so we won’t be silent! On your arrival at the Vitruvian Space, leave your shoes, coat, and lunch in one of the cubicles by the door, come in, roll out your mat, turn off your cell phone, and relax. Bring a cushion or bench for meditation if you have one and want to use it. Some meditation cushions and yoga mats (and chairs) will be available. We will be doing gentle mindful yoga, so wear layered, loose, comfortable clothing, and bring whatever else you need to be cozy (an extra mat, extra pillows, blanket) as the floor is hard and cold. Please refrain from wearing perfume and bringing reading materials, electronics, and food items (water is fine) into the contemplative space. Bring a simple lunch for yourself. We will eat our lunch mindfully together, in silence. If you have any questions, please email Rachael at rcrowder@ucalgary.ca
