Oil Sands developments are facing strong headwinds for a variety of issues including carbon emissions, royalty changes, increased corporate taxes, environmental footprint, health impacts, aboriginal concerns, low oil prices, a lack of pipeline approvals and new and uncertain political relationships both provincially and federally. Can the industry successfully resolve these issues and innovate itself through more sustainable development to renewed success or will the oil sands fade into obscurity?
