As part of the Men Leaders in Social Justice Speaker Series at the Women’s Resource Centre, Dr. William Bridel will share about the intersections of sex, gender, and sexuality in relation to sports. Sport is a social institution rigidly organized by traditional notions of sex and gender. This impacts LGBTT2QQI athletes in different ways, whether participating at a grassroots or professional level. In this talk, Dr. Bridel will present a brief overview of the academic research and discuss how he has attempted and continues to use his own work and the work of others to encourage more inclusivity in sport in the Canadian context. Dr. Bridel will also touch on his experiences and challenges in doing such work.
